Actress Mcneal ‘Awra’ Briguela couldn’t stop herself from taking a swipe against the netizens who praised former President Rodrigo Duterte’s statement during the senate blue ribbon committee hearing on EJKs yesterday.

In a Facebook post, Awra shared a post from Phil Posas, saying that they’re not part of the generation of people who praise self-proclaimed slaughterers.

Duterte admitted during the hearing that he encouraged cops to let bad elements defend themselves so they could have a reason to neutralize them.

Awra’s post received a mixed reaction from the netizens.

Some individuals, including Sass Rogando Sasot, also reminded Awra of how the latter caused a commotion at a bar in Poblacion.

On June 29, 2023, Awra was reportedly put under the custody of the authorities after being involved in a bar brawl.

CCTV footage showed that Awra forced another customer to take off his clothes, but when the latter refused, the actress became physical with the victim.

“Umaawat lang po ako tapos sinapak po ako, nasaktan po ako,” the bouncer of the bar, Angelo Niño Gulmatico recounted. “Si Awra po. Hindi na siguro mapigilan. Kung sinu-sino na siguro yung nasasaktan niya.”

Eventually, Awra apologized for her actions.

Dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte, balak kasuhan si Cong. Fernandez at Cong. Abante

Former President Rodrigo Duterte was planning to file charges against Santa Rosa City Rep. Dan Fernandez and Manila 6th District Rep. Benny Abante.

During the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee investigation on the alleged EJKs during the previous administration, Police Col. Hector Grijaldo revealed that Fernandez and Abante urged him to create an affidavit to support the alleged ‘reward system’ implemented under Duterte’s presidency.

“After a while, Cong. Dan Fernandez entered the room and he asked me to sit beside him on his right side and Cong. Abante entered the room, sat far…Cong. Dan Fernandez put the paper he was holding on the table and told me, ‘Ito ang sasabihin mong statement na ito”, while pointing on the paragraph on the paper, ‘Ito ang supplemental affidavit ni Colonel Garma, sabihin mong alam mo ang reward system. I-confirm mo lang,’” said Grijaldo.

According to Grijaldo, the two lawmakers even hinted that he may still become a general if he followed their instructions.

However, the cop refused Fernandez and Abante’s request, saying that it would put him in jeopardy if he lied under oath.

Meanwhile, Duterte said that Fernandez and Abante committed the Subornation of Perjury by forcing an individual to lie.

The former President also mulled charges against the two lawmakers who were part of QuadComm.

Former President Rodrigo Duterte refused to leave the Senate after being excused at the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee’s investigation on EJKs on October 28, 2024.

Before Senate Minority Leader Koko Pimentel suspended the hearing, he informed the former chief executive that he was allowed to leave.

However, Duterte insisted that he wanted to stay throughout the hearing as he wanted to answer more questions from the panel.

“Mr. President, by unanimous position, you are now excused from the hearing. Thank you for attending,” said Pimentel.

“Ayoko sir,” Duterte responded.

Pimentel then explained that Duterte’s allies also proposed his dismissal.

“Thank you sir. Whether you like it or not, kasi itong mga kaibigan mo rito, gusto na kayo ipa-relax,” Pimentel told Duterte.

Duterte then responded: “Ayaw ko kasi there are so many questions that would be left unanswered,”

The former president eventually left the hearing and the session was resumed minutes later.

Netizens found the investigation unusual as Duterte was visibly in control throughout his appearance at the hearing.

Former President Rodrigo Duterte didn’t mince his words against one of his political nemesis, Senator Risa Hontiveros.

During the hearing on EJKs on October 28, 2024, Hontiveros asked Duterte about his admission that he asked the PNP to encourage bad elements to defend themselves by force.

“Very incorrect. If I may say as a civilian sa professional police,” said Hontiveros.

In response, Duterte said that Hontiveros’ point of view was different because she had never experienced managing a city.

“That’s your view.

“You never had the chance to solve the problems of a community. Hindi tayo magkaintindihan diyan,” he added.

Hontiveros only made a brief response, thanking Duterte for his statements and “putting it on record.”

Camarines Sur 2nd District Representative LRay Villafuerte explained why they decided to distribute cash instead of relief goods to their constituents affected by the flood brought by Typhoon Kristine.

In an interview with DWPM, Villafuerte argued that giving relief goods like food and rice to the affected families may be worthless as he assumed that those people don’t have gas stoves to cook their meals.

“Sabi raw bakit cash. Eh sige po baliktarin ko. Magbigay ka ng relief, bigas. Wala naman po silang panluto. Eh hehe. Ah ‘di ba po. Nasa gitna sila, walang gasul and all,” said Villafuerte.

Netizens couldn’t hide their disappointment in Villafuerte’s logic, saying that cash was useless as businesses were closed during calamities.
