After being fired by President Rodrigo Duterte, it seems that Vice President Leni Robredo is ready to fight back as she said that she’s going to reveal the information she learned during her time as the co-chair of ICAD.
According to Robredo, she would tell the nation about the things she discovered during her three-week term in ICAD.
The Vice President is also going to reveal her recommendations to the agency.
“Sa mga susunod na araw, magbibigay ako ng ulat sa bayan. Sasabihin ko ang aking natuklasan at ang aking mga rekomendasyon,” she said.
Robredo also has a message to his critics.
“Kung sa tingin nila matatapos ito dito, hindi nila ako kilala. Nagsisimula pa lamang ako.” Robredo told the press.
The Vice President said that she’s sending reports to Malacanang, however, it seems that the palace is just trying to ignore her.
She then asked the government if they’re trying to hide something important to her that’s why they decided to fire her instead of letting her do her job.
“Kung pareho naman ang ating layunin, bakit hindi na lang tayo magtulungan? Hindi ba talaga sila seryoso sa laban? O may interes ba tayong nabangga?” she said. “Ano ba ang kinatatakutan ninyong malaman ko? Ano ba ang kinatatakutan ninyong malaman ng taumbayan?” she said.
Yesterday, the Palace confirmed that President Duterte decided to remove Robredo as co-chair of ICAD because of still unknown reasons.
However, in several of his speeches, the President gave a hint that he doesn’t “trust” Robredo because of talking to the foreigners during her first week as co-chair of ICAD.
“Ang problema kay Robredo, after she was appointed she began talking publicly about inviting the Human Rights Commission, she was talking to the United Nations, at marami na siyang pinagsasabi,” Duterte told the reporters on November 19.
“Kung ganon, sabi ko… ‘I cannot appoint her as a Cabinet member’ if that is her mouth behaves, kasi kung cabinet member sana siya, she have the authority because she’s an alter-ego of me,” he added.
“I cannot trust her, not only because she is with the opposition, I do not trust her because I do not know her, hindi ko alam kung sino ang kausap niya, hindi ko alam kung sinong mga politiko o sinong mga tao,” he also said.
Senate President Tito Sotto also believes that the loss of trust of the reason why Duterte removed Robredo.
“The appointment of the Vice President as ICAD co-chair is based on trust. Once trust is lost, the position is lost. We have a word for it in Filipino – Sayang,” Sotto said.
