Camille Prats-Yambao shared her experience during the ‘purity ball’ they attended last Saturday together with her son Nathan Prats.
In her Instagram post, Camille shared that Nathan vowed to remain ‘pure’ before being married to follow the teachings of their Church.
As part of his vows, Nathan wore a ‘purity ring’ to symbolize his promise to abstain physically and mentally from physical copulation.
“Grateful for tonight’s meaningful event! We made a vow together as mom and son to stay pure until he finds the one whom he wants to bring to God to spend the rest of his life with,” she wrote.
“Nate, i pray that God will impress it upon your heart the importance of staying pure in obedience to Him for as we say, obedience brings… blessings. May your heart be blessed and be aligned to God’s will for your life.
Love you forever boys,” she added.
Camille’s post received mixed reactions from the netizens and sparked a discussion about whether abstinence should still be practiced today.
Here are some of the comments from the netizens.
“You’re not with your son 24/7 even if he wears that, no guarantee he won’t do it,”
“Hopefully gusto talaga ng anak nya yan kasi baka dumating ang araw na pag awayan nila yan tapos pinublic pa internet is forever pa naman,”
“This is mind-conditioning. Before age of 18, fine. But not when the son is of legal age and can decide what he does for his body, then there will be shame when public sees the ring missing,”
