Pura Luka Vega has been declared an undesirable visitor in one of the most populous cities in the Philippines.
On August 17, Cebu City joined the other places in the Philippines to declare the controversial drag queen as persona non grata due to his ‘Ama Namin’ performance.
In a report released by the Cebu City Council, Pura whose real name is Amadeus Fernando Pagenta deserved to be banned from visiting their place because of his disrespectful gesture towards the Roman Catholics.
“This August Body supports and values freedom of expression enshrined in the Constitution as an avenue in the valorization of human intellectual and artistic potentials… the limits of freedom must be recognized,” said Councilor Pastor “Jun” Alcover Jr.
“Cebu is the cradle of Christianity in the Philippines wherein the intersection of religious beliefs and social or cultural values are somehow enmeshed,” he added.
Aside from Cebu City, Dinagat Islands, and Occidental Mindoro also declared that Pura was unwelcome to visit their place.
In a resolution released by Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Dinagat Islands, they called the acts of Pura ‘blasphemous and disrespectful’.
“He is not permitted to enter and/or to come, and to operate business in the jurisdiction of Dinagat Islands,” the council resolution reads.
Pura was already declared persona non grata in Manila City, Laguna, Bukidnon, General Santos City, Floridablanca in Pampanga at Taboso.
