Singer Manuel Padillo Tan, also known as Jojo Mendrez, filed charges against actor and dancer Mark Herras on March 31, 2025.
According to the reports, Jojo expressed utter concern when Mark made a joke that he would burn his house if he ever start ignoring the actor.
“Susunugin ko ang bahay mo kung eechepwera mo ako,” Jojo said.
Jojo revealed that Mark asked him for money several times, which gave him a hint that the threat he received was a hint that the latter would do another such request again.
“Dahil sa matinding pagbabanta na ito, naisip ko agad na manghihingi na naman sa akin ito ng pera tulad ng kanyang nakagawian na gawin sa akin para manahimik siya at hindi niya ako takutin at gambalain. Ang perang nabigay ko na sa kanya ay walang anumang kapalit,” said Jojo in a statement.
Jojo’s lawyer reminded the public that Mark’s action was wrong.
“Hindi tama ang magbabanta ka or anything to anybody or threaten anybody sa kanyang person o sa kanyang property at hindi po iyon tama at mayroon tayong laws na covered by revised penal code on this,” Atty. Pauline Advicula said.
It can be recalled that Mark and Jojo became close this year, and the latter was even seen together entering a hotel room.
The singer even vowed that he would take care of Mark.
There were also reports that Jojo asked Mark to stop performing in a popular gay bar.
Jojo and Mark’s sweetness to each other sparked discussion about the real relationship between the two.
