CIDG chief PMGen Nicolas Torre III apologized to the public for the special treatment received by the Duterte family during the serving of a warrant from the Interpol on March 11, 2025.
In an interview, Torre admitted that the treatment former President Rodrigo Duterte received was considered special and too much for an individual being arrested.
He mentioned how they allowed Duterte to use the 250th presidential airlift wing even if he was not the president anymore.
Torre even said that they allowed Duterte to use the chair of the sitting president in the airwing, which was the most comfortable.
“Ang inuupuan niya para sa Presidente ng Pilipinas ‘yon, hindi na siya Presidente ng Pilipinas. That’s the 250th airlift wing which is the presidential airlift wing of the Republic of the Philippines. Hindi ba special treatment ‘yon?” said Torre.
Torre admitted that it was a mistake that he gave VIP treatment to Duterte, but he explained that it was required so they could fulfill their order to bring the former president to the ICC.
“Pasensya na po talaga kayo, napakalaki po talagang special treatment ang ibinigay natin sa former president Duterte,” he stated.
