The waiter who went viral last month after he was allegedly forced to stand for two hours after calling one of his customers ‘sir’ had formally filed charges.
It can be recalled that LGBTQIA+ writer Jude Bacalso was eating at a restaurant where the waiter was employed when she allegedly asked the latter to listen to her lecture about gender sensitivity for two hours while standing.
The cause of the incident was only because the waiter mistakenly addressed Bacalso as ‘sir’ instead of ‘ma’am.’
According to the statement published by Cabrido and Law Firm, the waiter, R-Jay Marcilla, was still affected by the incident.
Marcilla’s counsel disclosed that their client was having difficulties trying to go outside and work again because of the incident.
“As of now, the victim is still traumatized but is trying to co-exist with society. We’re also helping him but the effect (of the incident) to his mental health was significant,” Atty. Ron Ivan Gingoyon of Cabrido and Law Firm said.
They revealed that they filed five charges against Bacalso: Unjust Vexation, Grave Scandal, Grave Coercion, Grave Threats, and Slight Illegal Detention.
As of writing, Bacalso has yet to respond to the charges filed by Marcilla.
