Carlos Yulo’s grandfather, Rodrigo Frisco, was not attempting to see his grandchild again after they were barred from welcoming the two-time Olympic gold medalist yesterday.
In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Rodrigo said that he would stay at home instead of going to Rizal Memorial Stadium, where Carlos was expected to arrive together with other Olympic athletes.
Rodrigo, who introduced gymnastics to Carlos, shared his realization that they might seen as desperate for the latter’s attention if they insist on seeing his grandchild.
Kaya naisip namin kahit diyan sa float niya, sa parada niya ‘di narin kami pupunta,” he said.
He also said that Carlos’ siblings prefered to spend their time on training instead of attending the event.
It can be recalled that Rodrigo expressed his excitement in the past when he saw his grandchild on his arrival to the Philippines.
However, he was informed that they were not allowed to see Carlos.
Naka-ready na kami,” he said.
Pero si Caloy ata, e.” he added.
Meanwhile, Carlos’ girlfriend, Chloe San Jose, accompanied the athlete to the events.
