Mrs. Angelica Yulo acquired the service of high-profile lawyer Atty. Raymond Fortun amid her issue with two-time Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo.
During the press conference held on August 7, 2024, Mrs. Yulo stood beside Fortun, who’s known for handling high-profile cases of Senators Juan Ponce Enrile and Bong Revilla, Governor Henry Pryde Teves, Presidential Adviser Michael Yang, Kris Aquino, Vicky Belo, Willy Revillame, Claudine Barretto, Gabby Concepcion, Zsa Zsa Padilla, and Vice Ganda.
It can be recalled that Fortun already warned the netizens to stop talking about his client, saying that the matter should be held privately between the mother and son.
“The public is hereby informed that ALL statements made attributed to Mrs. Yulo and/or any of her children that are critical of, disparaging or tend to tarnish the accomplishments of her son, CARLOS EDRIEL YULO are untrue, fake, and mere products of imagination and fantasy by heretofore unknown individuals,” he said.
Fortun also sympathized with Mrs. Yulo, saying that he understood the feelings of his client.
“If my wife speaks badly about my son’s girlfriend, it is NOT maligning my son but an ACT OF LOVE. Mothers are always protective of their children, don’t you agree? Isn’t it the stereotype that the mother-in-law does not like the daughter-in-law? So why is this such a big issue for so many?” he argued.
“If I am doing ‘damage control’, it is in the best interests of the Filipino people. We should not be distracted by a private family matter; instead, we should all rejoice in the honor brought to the country by Caloy. Agree?” he added.
