Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) chairperson Lala Sotto said that she was not affected by the calls of some netizens who wanted her to resign from her position following the decision of the agency to deny the Motion of Reconsideration filed by It’s Showtime.
It can be recalled that MTRCB denied the appeal made by GMA Network and ABS-CBN not to push through the 12-day suspension imposed by the agency against the Kapamilya show for the alleged indecent acts done by its hosts Vice Ganda and Ion Perez during one of its segments, ‘Isip Bata’.
Sotto had been criticized for several weeks by the netizens, but she said she was ‘unbothered’ by those negative comments because she was already used to being lambasted.
“I truly believe that me being a Sotto or being my father’s daughter shouldn’t be taken against me. Instead, it should be taken positively since I’m someone who grew up in, loves, and understands the industry,” said Sotto in her statement.
“I really believe that the Lord prepared me for this because I grew up in public scrutiny. I saw my parents always talked about. I would read about my father, or my titos, and family all the time in the papers. Bashing is not new to us, to me. You all know what they’ve said about my father in the past. I thank God I am unbothered,” she added.
As of writing, GMA and ABS-CBN have yet to give a official statement about their next move following the decision made by MTRCB.
