Pura Luka Vega posted a selfie at the Department of Justice (DOJ) office in Manila where she was also declared persona non grata.
In a Facebook post, Pura shared a selfie in front of the DOJ main office while wearing a drag outfit.
In her caption, Pura said that drag artists like her should not be persecuted because of her art.
“Nyelpi muna. Found 2 stray kittens on the bench. Let me state and reiterate that drag is NOT a crime. This experience has highlighted hypocrisy and is an education on hate. This is hate. We are facing these charges in the hopes of upholding the freedom of expression for ALL,” said Pura.
“The law should not be used to persecute minorities for our unique cultural practices. #WWJD Happy Birthday Mama Mary! Might have some drinks later. Yun lang,” she added.
It can be recalled that she was facing charges from two religious groups, the Philippines for Jesus Movement, and Hijos del Nazareno for his ‘Ama Namin’ drag performance.
Aside from facing charges, he was also declared persona non grata in the City of Manila, Laguna, Bukidnon, General Santos City, Floridablanca in Pampanga, Taboso, Cebu City, Mandaue City, Occidental Mindoro, and Dinagat Islands.
