The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) Chairperson Lala Sotto received criticism from the netizens after her past interview had been circulated on social media.

In the said interview, Sotto said that her basis for moderating content being aired on television and film was her ‘spiritual conviction’ and she would not allow any shows that would ‘disturb’ the minds of children.

“My basis would be my spiritual conviction,” said Sotto. “As long as it is causing any form of disturbance, to the mind of a child, I don’t think I can allow it.”

The video was uploaded after the MTRCB released their decision to suspend It’s Showtime for 12 airing days.

However, several netizens reminded the chair about the gestures done by her father Tito Sotto, and mother Helen Gamboa during one of the episodes of the noontime show E.A.T.

During the said episode, the veteran television host could be seen kissing his wife for 44 years.

The agency head defended the actions of her father.
