Lea Salonga nagsalita tungkol sa pagtanggi niya na magpa-picture sa Filipino fans niya: “I have boundaries”

Singer Lea Salonga made a short statement after her video showing how she refused three Filipino fans who wanted to take a photo with her went viral.

In her tweet, Lea reminded the netizens about her ‘boundaries’ that everyone should not cross.

“Just a reminder… I have boundaries. Do not cross them. Thank you,” said Lea.

In an interview, Lea clarified that she appreciated the love she received from her fans and she’s grateful for them; however, the singer insisted that people should still respect her personal boundaries.

“My personal boundaries and space were violated; what am I supposed to react?” said Lea.

She also reportedly refused the request from the fans for a hug.

“Paano kung may dala ka na palang kutsilyo?” she asked.

“We also have responsibilities to keep ourselves safe,” she added.

It can be recalled that three Filipino fans reportedly entered the dressing room of Lea in New York without permission from the singer.

“Who are you? I’m sorry, I don’t know who you are,” said Lea.

However, the singer then told the Filipino fans to wait outside.

“If you’re not on the guest list we cannot have you back here. So, you’ll have to get to the door because if I allow this now then other people are gonna take advantage,” she explained.

“I’ll see you at the door but don’t go outside. Stay inside the door. Kasi kung wala sa listahan, hindi namin puwede ipasok. For security. Please don’t do that again,” she added.

The fans then reportedly uploaded the video taken during the encounter and criticized Lea.

“If ever naman po na mali kami at wala sa guest list, the fact na andun na kami para lang magpapicture.. pumila at nagbayad ng mahal para sa show, siguro naman po bilang kapwa PILIPINO at mga FANS eh mabigyan ng kahit konting RESPETO at KAHIT HINDI NA YAKAPIN OR I BESO ay mapagbigyan na kahit sandaling magpa PICTURE,” the fan said.
