Socrates Villegas blames former Pres. Duterte for influencing Pura Luka Vega ‘Ama Namin’ performance

Lingayen-Dagupan Archbishop Socrates Villegas made another criticism against former President Rodrigo Duterte amid the issue being faced by drag artist Pura Luka Vega who performed a remix version of ‘Ama Namin’ while wearing a costume of Jesus.

In a Facebook post, Villegas said that the disrespectful behavior of some individuals against the Catholic Church was already “bound to happen.”

Villegas believed that the issue involving Vega was only the start.

“The seeds for this scandalous video were already planted in the field when we allowed vulgarity by high leaders in government to become a joking matter. Our cooperative indifference and supportive laughter, as we heard those vulgarities, make us accomplices in blasphemy. This was a small beginning like the seed of weed,”

“The small seeds were already planted when we chose cowardly silence as God was cursed by the highest government official. We giggled and later on voted for more officials who support such vulgarity. We were in cahoots. The seeds were planted then.

It can be recalled that Villegas is known of Duterte, while the former President is a critic of the Catholic Church.

The two clashed several times, and even the former President’s daughter, Vice President Sara Duterte, criticized Villegas.
