Comedian-actress Herlene ‘Hipon Girl’ Budol explained why she’s frowning while being crowned as Miss Philippines Tourism during the recent Miss Grand Philippines coronation night.
On July 13, Herlene didn’t win the Miss Grand Philippines crown but claimed on her Facebook post that she was still thankful for being given a chance to represent the Philippines in November’s upcoming Miss Tourism World 2023.
However, her reaction during the crowning of Miss Tourism Philippines tells a different story.
A member of the Bekis of Pageantry Facebook group noticed the sad expression of Herlene during the awarding of her title.
She made a playful response to the post, hinting that Miss Grand CEO Nawat Itsaragrisil, who’s also being called ‘angkol’ or ‘uncle’ by Filipino pageant fans, wasted her potential.
“Kasi sinayang ni Angkol,” said Herlene.
However, several netizens urged Herlene to just accept the result of the pageant.
Some even believed that the actress didn’t even deserve an award because of her controversial Q&A performance.
“For me lang parang ang bitter nung dating nung “Kase sinayang ni angkol”. Wala namang sinayang. Nasobrahan lang siguro yung expectation mo,” netizen Cee commented.
“Maging thankful ka na lng po miss Herlene Hipon Budol at least Ms Tourism ka kahit may mas deserving pa,” netizen Jennifer remarked.
“Buti nga me crown pa…ganun po talaga pag d natin kaya be thankful nlang at maging masaya mas nakakahiya kung international na at kinakabahan sa q and a alam naman natin kung deserving tayo galingan sa q and a para sa susunod masungkit na ang minimithi halata po kcng dis appointed kayo sa lungkot ng mukha nyo e ang tanong deserve nyo po ba alam naman po natin lahat na hindi sorry to say,” netizen Jay stated.
It can be recalled that before the coronation night, Herlene made a post addressed to Nawat, jokingly asking the businessman to give her the crown.
