Liza Soberano gained another controversy after commenting on the love team culture in Philippine showbusiness.

During an interview with podcasters Peniel and Ashley Choi, Liza said that the love team culture in the Philippines was sometimes toxic, forcing their artist to stick with their celebrity pair to make it appear that they love each other even behind the camera.

The former Kapamilya actress became popular after being paired with Enrique Gil who also became her longtime boyfriend.

“In the Philippines, there’s this huge phenomenon called love teams. Love team is when they put two actors together and they become like `Brangelina.’ They ship you and this scenario, there’s reel and real, and we’re supposed to be a real couple on and off cam and we only work with each other our whole career,” Liza said.

“So if you look at my previous movies and TV shows, I mainly worked with one co-actor and love team and you’re expected to be with that just one person throughout your career and your personal life. And people don’t wanna see you with other male actors or any other male in general,” she added.

Some netizen couldn’t hide their disappointment over the statement made by Liza especially that she became a popular celebrity in the Philippines because of the love team culture.

Shut up!” a netizen said.

“Ang cheap ng ganitong atake. Pagkatapos mong pagkakitaan, ngayon sisiraan mo, for what?
