Members of the AlDub nation declared to boycott Eat Bulaga after they noticed that Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza were being distanced in the same noontime show.
It can be recalled that the love team between Alden and Maine became one of the biggest and made Eat Bulaga dominate the ratings for months.
However, in 2019, the hopes of the AlDub nation to make the relationship between Alden and Maine become real ended after the actress started dating Arjo Atayde.
She also asked her fans for ‘freedom’, but some members of the AlDub nation couldn’t accept it.
The same year, Alden left Eat Bulaga to focus on his other ventures.
In 2023, Alden decided to return to Eat Bulaga, but fans accused the noontime show of distancing Alden and Maine.
The said accusations made AlDub nation start boycotting Eat Bulaga.
The hashtag #BOYCOTTEBxGMA732 went viral on Twitter amid the disappointment of the fans.
There were also speculations that Maine planned to leave Eat Bulaga to focus on the new chapter of her life with Arjo that was set in July 2023.
But some AlDub fans theorized that there’s a different reason for the possible resignation of Maine.
“Akala ng EB maiisahan talaga tayo ng mga walanghiya! Ang kakapal ng mga mukha nila. AldenMaine relax lang kasi hindi naman sila kasi ang may atraso. Bawat galaw ng dalawa nagmamasid ang mga traydor. Back pain ang boycott!” netizen Myrna said.
“Tried ko I replay yung part na sinabi ni Joey na mahilig si Alden sa yaya, wala na pala tinanggal na nila so meron pa ring paghihiwalay na nagaganap. Kaya huwag talaga magtiwala sa kanila. Madumili sila maglaro. Be Vigilant,” netizen Dionglay tweeted.
As of writing, Maine and Alden have yet to address the disappointment of their fans.
