An influencer was put behind bars after performing the ‘punit pera challenge’ where he showed his followers how he defaced a banknote.

On April 4, 2023, Arnold Rogero, 34, was caught by the members of the PNP at his residence in Barangay Commonwealth, Quezon City.

The authorities served the warrant of the court against Rogero for violating Presidential Decree 247, which prohibits and penalizes the “defacement, mutilation, tearing, burning or destruction of central bank notes and coins.”

The court set bail for Rogero at P30,000 so he could gain his temporary freedom.

It can be remembered that BSP filed charges against Rogero together with five other content creators when they uploaded a video where they tried to burn or destroyed banknotes.

BSP also filed charges against a magician who used made a hole in a P1000 bill, a content creator who used a P50 note to fill his motorcycle with fuel, a man who stapled a P100-bill to a basketball net, and also to an individual who used two P500 bill to clean his shoes.

As of writing, Rogero has yet to give any statement on the charges he was facing.

If found guilty, Rogero may be put behind bars for a maximum of five years.
