Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) already ordered all their security personnel working at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) not to wear any uniform with pockets.
The said order was made to prevent all screening officers to commit pickpocketing the travelers.
It can be recalled that last month, a Thai tourist caught security personnel allegedly pocketing P8,000 from his colleague who underwent screening.
The video showed that an officer returned the money to the tourist when they told the security team that they recorded the whole incident.
After the said incident, it was reported that another security personnel allegedly took the watch of another tourist.
To prevent such incidents to happen again, the Office for Transportation Security (OTS) made several changes including disallowing their employees to wear uniforms with pockets.
They also barred all security personnel to interact with passengers and assist them in carrying their baggage.
CCTV cameras were also placed on the screening terminals to add transparency to the security check being done by personnel.
