Palace explains why President Duterte is wearing air purifier

Mainstream media highlighted President Duterte’s air purifier during Indian President Ram Nath Kovind’s visit to Malacanang on Friday.

On Friday, Malacanang explained why President Duterte is wearing the said gadget.

According to Presidential Spokesperson Panelo, Duterte is wearing an air purifier to protect himself from possible respiratory infection and people within his proximity who have coughs and colds.

Some reports also said that some members of the Cabinet are prone to cough. That’s why the President decided to protect himself by using an air purifier.

One of the websites selling air purifiers also said that the gadget is made to protect its user by cleaning the air by removing airborne pollutants(e.g., viruses, bacteria, pollen, dust, etc.) away from their personal space.

The air purifier wearing by President Duterte raised concerns again from his critics who are trying to urge the government to disclose the health of the chief executive who’s already 74 years old.

Some netizens questioned why the media is trying to point out the purifier wearing by the President instead of reporting the result of the meeting between Duterte and Kovind.

“So? What’s the problem with Mr. President using it? I don’t understand your point in this,” netizen P.J Lao said.

“It isn’t being rude when you want to take care of your own health,” netizen Anne Imlan remarked.

“Marami nyan dto sa hkng. khit ordinaryong mga Tao khit kmi mga ofw naglagay nyan at gumagamit nyan. wag nga ninyo bgyan ng maling pang unawa mga maliliit na bagay tungkol sating Pangulo,” Netizen Angie Daclizon commented.
