The waiter who went viral on social media after he was allegedly forced to stand in front of a complaining LGBTQIA+ customer whom he addressed as ‘sir’ received thousands of support from the netizens.

It can be recalled that the said waiter, who was working at a restaurant in Cebu City, was spotted standing in front of writer Jude Bacalso for almost two hours.

According to some witnesses who saw the incident, other employees of the restaurant couldn’t do anything to save their colleague, believing that Jude was close to their boss.

Many netizens believed that the waiter would not stay at the restaurant whether he was removed from his position or not.

Despite his possible employment loss, many business owners were already offering jobs for the said waiter.

One of those entrepreneurs was Joel Torres, who said that he would hire the waiter as a supervisor of their barbershop or maybe in his own travel agency.

“Mag star na ako ng renovation sa Master’s Barbershop. I-refer niyo ako sa waiter sa Ullies kung natanggal na siya sa work,” said Torres. “I-hire ko siya sa Barbershop o sa South Shore Travel and Tours,” he wrote.

According to Torres, he admired the attitude of the waiter, who didn’t make any bad moves despite being forced to stand for almost two hours.

As of writing, the said waiter has yet to be identified.

In her statement, Jude made a lengthy message to address the criticism she received on social media after she allegedly forced a waiter to stand for two hours for addressing her as ‘sir.’

In her Facebook post, Jude shared that she met again with the restaurant management to address their mistakes and push for more ‘inclusive practices’ in the restaurant.

“I made a personal apology to the group present, and requested if I may do so for the concerned waiter. I am also making it very public with this post as it has become a quite public fodder,” she said.

She also apologized to all the staff and to the customers present during the incident.

“This is a huge chunk of humble pie that I must ingest because I have errered. May we start here with, as the supervisor pointed out, an uphill path to reconciliation and we hope you will be able to allow us and yourselves to do so unhampered so we may all learn and heal from this,” she stated.

As of writing, the waiter involved has yet to give his own statement on the issue.

Sandara Park went viral on social media amid the news that the Korean pop group 2ne1 would return after several years of taking a break.

YG Entertainment announced on Sunday that the group, consisting of Sandara, Park Bom, CL, and Minzy, would return for their 15th anniversary world tour.

In a tweet, a fan told Sandara not to reconnect with her former friends who left her when 2NE1 was disbanded.

“Wag na wag lang bumalik-balik ‘yung mga ex-friends ni Ati na biglang hindi na siya kilala when 2ne1 disbanded. Baka mamalimos ng tickets sayo @krungy21 parang awa i-WHO YOU mo sila. Alam kong mabait ka pero di nila deserve ng kahit anong favor from you,” the fan told Sandara.

Sandara only made a one-word reply to the netizen.

“Exactly,” she wrote.

Meanwhile, netizens started to guess the individual being referred by the fan, and one of the people mentioned was Ella Cruz.

In 2018, Ella went viral on social media after she asked Sandara for a free ticket to the BLACKPINK concert.

The request made by Ella received criticism from the netizens.

Ella then apologized and defended herself and even used her dog, who passed away.

“Seeing people’s tweets about me and masakit… Tao rin ako, tao rin kaming mga artista nasasaktan. Kung nabastusan kayo sa tweet ko tagging Ms. Dara, I am now deleting it,” she wrote.

Talent manager and showbiz reporter Ogie Diaz addressed the LGBT writer who went viral after he allegedly forced a waiter to stand for two hours.

In a Facebook post, Ogie believed that the said writer, Jude Bacalso, was not happy that she was still addressed as “sir” despite her efforts to look feminine.

However, instead of letting the waiter stand for two hours, Ogie said that Jude should have been shown documentary evidence that she was a woman.

“Ganun naman pala na babae ang tingin mo sa sarili mo, eh di sana, pinakitaan mo ng pruweba na magpapatunay na babae ka talaga bukod sa pagpapakita ng keps,” he said.

“Katulad kunwari ng birth certificate. Ipakita mo na FEMALE ang nakalagay sa gender mo doon para mas maintindihan ka ng waiter kung saan nanggagaling yung ngitngit mo,” he added.

According to him, Jude should accept the fact that not everyone would know that not everyone would address her pronouns correctly.

Ogie also added that while Jude wanted to promote LGBTQIA+ sensitivity, the latter failed also to recognize that people outside his community have sensitivity also.

“Pag ang tao, nag-sorry na, patawarin mo na. Wag mo nang bini-big deal ang isang sitwasyon na ikaw mismo, kaya mong solusyunan, ayaw mo lang,” he said before ending his post.

The restaurant where a waiter was allegedly forced to stand up for two hours to satisfy a complaining LGBTQIA+ customer released a statement following the incident.

In a statement, Ulli’s Streets of Asia said that they’re supporting the said employee who addressed one of their customers, Jude Bacalso, as ‘sir.’

“The management of Ulli’s Streets of Asia stands by our employee involved in the incident. He along with his teammates have our support,” the restaurant said.

“We aim to provide a safe and respectful environment for both our guests and our people. We are taking steps to better handle these situations moving forward,” they added.

In a previous statement, Ulli’s also expressed their concern on the incident, saying that they quickly checked their employee after the incident.

“We are deeply concerned by the incident that happened this past Sunday. We have sat down with the server involved and the rest of our team to console and brief them following the altercation. Rest assured that we are educating our people and placing their welfare of utmost priority,” they wrote.

They also apologized to Jude Bacalso for the discrimination that happened.

“Ulli’s Streets of Asia respects and celebrates people from all walks of life, including LGBTQIA+ community. Discrimination has no place in our restaurant,” they added.

The incident happened when the waiter allegedly misgendered Jude, and called him a sir.

Jude, who said that he was ‘educating’ the waiter about pronouns, stood for two hours until a concerned citizen tried to intervene with the situation.

LGBT writer Jude Bacalso made an official statement after she allegedly forced a waiter who called him sir to stand for two hours in front of him.

In his statement, Jude insisted that he usually only educated the people who ‘misgendered’ her.

According to him, his actions towards the waiter were only his form of educating someone about LGBT and pronouns.

He also denied that he asked the waiter to stand for two hours.

“Because I am close to the owners of the restaurant, I informed them directly instead of taking it thoughtlessly to the court of public opinion. The error was made even more jarring to me since one of the owners is a beautiful transwoman, whose own transition I have witnessed through the years,” she said.

“Did the staff stand there for hours? Yes, we were waiting to resolve it with the owners. Did I demand that he stand there as punishment? No. The supervisor was there when I discussed with the erring staff that perhaps a gender sensitivity seminar would benefit them. The supervisor acknowledged that this incident was a wake-up call to them and that they would welcome that opportunity,” he added.

He also reminded the people that Cebu City has anti-discrimination ordinances in the country.

“What transpired between me and the staff was also a matter to be settled between us, and we were,” she stated.

A concerned citizen shared the incident on social media, saying that he witnessed Jude let the waiter stand in front of him for two hours.

“I asked this guy Jude if he was the owner or customer. The guy Jude sarcastically said “Go ask him (referring to the server) what happened. Then I asked the server what happened, and he answered “Natawag ko siyang sir.” netizen John Colderon said.

As of writing, the said restaurant has yet to give their official statement on the issue.

Isang waiter, pinatayo umano bilang parusa matapos tawaging ‘sir’ ang isang LGBT customer

A member of the LGBTQIA+ community was in hot water after she was mentioned in an incident that happened at a restaurant in Cebu City.

In a Facebook post, John Calderon, a mall customer, narrated how he saw the waiter standing up for almost two hours in the same position.

According to Calderon, he first saw the waiter facing Jude Bacalso, an event host, in the restaurant around 4 PM. He thought that the two were only discussing something, so he continued to roam around the mall.

However, around 6 PM, he was surprised to see the two still standing face-to-face, which prompted him to ask what was happening.

“I asked this guy Jude if he was the owner or customer. The guy Jude sarcastically said “Go ask him (referring to the server) what happened. Then I asked the server what happened, and he answered “Natawag ko siyang sir.” he narrated.

Other staff couldn’t do anything as it was reported that Jude was close to the owner of the restaurant.

Calderon said that the waiter only took his rest after his intervention.

He also couldn’t hide his disappointment towards Jude for his attitude towards the server.

“You voicing for LGBTQ? For that mere mistake sa server, is that how you want to influence? Part ko sa LGBT myself and you bring shame sa ating community,” he said.

As of writing, the restaurant has yet to give their comment on the issue.

Former internet sensation Diwata, now a vlogger, seems to be following the style of other content creators who connected with him during the peak of his popularity.

In his vlog, Diwata could be seen looking for phones he could distribute to his lucky followers online.

The video showed Diwata buying five Android phones and three iPhones, saying that he would give all of those gadgets to his followers.

“Ito na, mga ka-Diwata! Abangan niyo ang mechanics kung paano kayo mananalo ng mga ito,” he said.

However, it seems that the video didn’t gain many views; two days after it was uploaded on social media, it only gained 8,700 views.

Some experts believed that the popularity of Diwata already ended, and many people were now switching to other content creators to watch.

They also said that Diwata should have started vlogging during the peak of his popularity.

It can be recalled that only other content creators benefited from Diwata’s popularity several months ago and some even reported that they earned hundreds of thousands of pesos in just recording the former internet sensation alone.
