LOOK: Mayor Inday Sara Duterte seen helping a motorist who fell off motorcycle in Tagum

Davao City Mayor Inday Sara Duterte-Carpio captured the attention of the internet again after she did another good deed while doing her motorcycle-riding hobby.

According to the report of TV Patrol Mindanao, Mayor Inday Sara helped a 57-year-old man who fell to his motorcycle along Brgy. Madaum, Tagum City on Sunday.

The investigator Police Corporal Alexander Catarata said that the victim fell to his motorcycle while trying to evade a dog crossing the road.

Mayor Inday Sara’s group is just driving next to the victim, so the presidential daughter immediately stopped to help the latter.

However, another security personnel of Inday Sara also fell to his motorcycle while evading the victim.

According to Duterte, she’s with Marinduque Rep. Lord Alan Velasco when the incident happened.

“We then brought the two to the nearest hospital for medical assistance. The two men are now recovering,” Inday Sara said.

Netizens couldn’t hide their amazement after they saw the report about the presidential daughter.

Some even said that they’re going to support Inday Sara if she’s going to run in the 2022 presidential elections.

“I salute you mayor Sarah duterte .. manang Mana kapo talaga Kai president .. Sana marami pa kayong matulungan ..Godbless po,” Joana Gitanes said.

“Yan ang mayor namin maganda na matulungin pa pero gwapo din sya minsan hehehehe mana sa kay tatay Digs,” netizen Ivan Ballarez commented.

“Swerte parin si manong.. Aside si mayor naka hawak sa kanya. Im sure bibigyan pa yan ng assistance.. Pagling ka manong.. Sayang yung saging,” netizen Dodong Espera remarked.

“Mas mahigpit siya!” Netizen predicts Mayor Inday Sara Duterte-Carpio as next President of the country

A netizen believed that Davao City Mayor Inday Sara Duterte-Carpio could win the presidential elections in 2022, citing several reasons.

On a lengthy Facebook post, netizen Pamela Saavedra said that President Rodrigo Duterte’s daughter is one of the biggest contenders for the presidency because of her popularity, strictness, bravery, and other traits she got from her father.

According to Saavedra, Mayor Inday Sara’s style of enforcing the law is more strict than her father and urged netizens to visit Davao City if they are curious about how the presidential daughter is taking care of her city.

Saavedra also cited the popularity of the Mayor on social media and how the latter is engaging with her followers, including her critics.

She also cited the things that Inday Sara didn’t get from her father, including the cursing habit of the President.

The netizen then mentioned Inday Sara’s profession, advocacy, and personality that being admired by other people.

You can read her post below:

Bakit posibleng si Mayor Inday Sara ang magiging susunod na Pangulo ng bansa? (A humble opinion by: Pamela Saavedra)

4. Hindi sya nagmumura. She may be a fierce Duterte but she also has the finesse of a Zimmerman. Mayor Sara is not only strong and assertive but she is also refined.

5. She is pro-environment.

8. She can be a very powerful icon. Imagine a lady President sporting a tattoo during international conventions and casually hangs out with guys on big bikes. She can be very popular not only in Asia but also worldwide — a beautiful badass chick President!

9. She is so natural. You can see her dancing and clowning around. Totoong tao talaga, hindi plastik.

12. Her nickname translates to “beloved”. Sara will revolutionize that name to be a strong, modern, independent woman who is loved by her people.

13. May hangover pa tayo ng nakaraang eleksyon. Hindi parin po tayo nakaka get over nung 2016 campaign. DUTERTE! DUTERTE! DUTERTE!\

While many supporters of the President are pushing for Inday Sara’s candidacy in 2022, the presidential daughter is not yet disclosing her future political plans.

Even President Duterte doesn’t want his daughter to become the next chief executive of the country.

“Kung may mag-ambisyon sa’yo, wag ka talagang magkamali. Kaya si Inday, ayaw ko. Wag niyong demonyohin yang anak ko kasi maawa ako sa kanya. Anak ko yan e,” the President said.

Atty. Roque slams Sen. Poe for leading ABS-CBN probe: She made a mockery of our Constitution to suit her political ambition of becoming President

Former Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque slammed Senator Grace Poe for leading the senate investigation on ABS-CBN franchise renewal despite being aware of her conflict of interest with the broadcasting network.

In his latest Tribune.net column, Roque expressed “serious concern” over Poe’s action especially when she admitted her connections with ABS-CBN in an interview a few days ago.

Roque pointed out that the constitution already prohibited any public officials to intervene with any franchise granted by the government citing Article VI Section 12 and Section 7(a) of the Code of Conduct and Ethical Stands for Public Officials and Employees.

The lawyer called Poe’s action as “unconstitutional”.

In an interview with Karen Davila, Poe admitted her family’s business relationship with ABS-CBN but explained that she’s required to tackle it because she’s the chairman of the committee handling legislative franchises.

“Number 1, I am the chairman of the Committee on Public Services. No.2, it’s no secret the business relationship of my family with ABS-CBN. No. 3, I am only one of 24 senators. Whatever I say, even if I am for it or against it, if the majority will not side with my opinion, it will not prevail,” Poe said.

However, Roque argued that Poe had the chance to distance herself from getting involved in the ABS-CBN franchise issue, explaining that the Vice-chairman of the Committee on Public Service.

“The point is, had she followed the Constitution and the law, the hearing could still have been conducted as obviously, she is only one of twenty-four Senators. Even if she is chairman of the Committee on Public Services, the committee’s vice-chairman could have presided over the same. In other words, Sen. Poe’s participation in that hearing was not indispensable,” he said.

“Ultimately, the question goes beyond delicadeza as obviously, the senator probably does not care for such. The issue is why a senator, who knew about both her conflict of interest and should have known the prohibition against it, would wantonly violate the Constitution and the law and not have any remorse for it!” he added.

“By golly, legislators are supposed to legislate normative values important to mankind. But here now is a senator flaunting violations of no less than the Constitution and saying she did so that the nation will know her stand on the matter! Goodness, a press release or a privilege speech in this regard would have sufficed for that purpose,” he also said.

Roque is concerned that the actions of Poe “may encourage” other public officials to disregard the law in exchange for getting what they wanted or pushing their personal interest in some issues.

The lawyer believed that Poe insisted to lead the senate investigation on ABS-CBN because of her political ambitions.

“Grace Poe made a mockery of our Constitution and our laws to suit her political ambition of becoming President,” he said

“If and when she does become President, that’s the time for all Filipinos to migrate from this country. For clearly, she has just been proven to one and all that as a shameless law breaker, she could not possible be trusted to implement the laws of the land,” he added.

“Iba si Sara!” Historian explains why Inday Sara’s move to support ABS-CBN is ‘brilliant’

Supporters and critics of ABS-CBN were surprised by the recent statement of Davao City Mayor Inday Sara Duterte expressing support to the said broadcasting company’s franchise renewal.

But a historian seems not shocked by Inday Sara’s decision to support the company that being criticized by her father, President Rodrigo Duterte, many times.

On a Facebook post, Van Yviernas, a professor at De La Salle University, explained why Inday Sara’s support to ABS-CBN is a ‘brilliant’ move that could give her advantages in her future political plans.

According to Yviernas, Inday Sara only showed that she’s different from her father, President Duterte.

He also pointed out that Inday Sara could also receive support from the supporters of ABS-CBN if the broadcasting company successfully get their franchise renewal.

If the network closes down, the Davao City Mayor is also safe from being criticized by the supporters of ABS-CBN.

You can read his explanation below:

“Sara Duterte in favor of ABS-CBN franchise extension, is brilliant.”

“Patunay ito MULI na Sara is her own person. Iba si Digong, iba si Sara.”

“Kapag na-extend ang ABS, bida si Sara kasi magmumukhang siya ang dahilan kaya napabago ang isipan at desisyon ni PRRD”

“Kapag hindi na-extend, at least she did her part.”

“Kahit ano mangyari, hindi na pwede gamiting isyu yan laban sa kanya sa 2022.”

“Wala naman damage ito kay Sara kasi kahit yung anti-ABS iboboto pa rin siya kasi siya si Sara Duterte.”

“Brilliant!”

The post of Yviernas already reached 1,300 reactions on social media.

Inday Sara made a statement about the ABS-CBN franchise for the first time on Wednesday, announcing that Davao City is supporting the franchise renewal of the television network.

“Davao City fully supports ABS-CBN sa kanilang pagpapa-renew ng kanilang franchise. Of course malaki din ang suporta ng ABS-CBN sa Davao City at sa buong bansa,” Duterte-Carpio said.

“Hopefully ma-resolve in a very positive way ang issue ng franchise ng ABS-CBN,” she added.

She also believed that her father was even thinking about employees of ABS-CBN that could be affected by the possible franchise expiration of the company.

The President accepted the apology of ABS-CBN for not airing his ad in 2016 but didn’t tell the media if he already changed his stance on the issue.

“Yari!” Lawyer says that Grace Poe may face charges for leading ABS-CBN hearing

Senator Grace Poe may face charges for leading the Senate investigation on the ABS-CBN network if it’s proven that she has a financial interest with the broadcasting company.

This is what lawyer Trixie Cruz-Angeles said on her Facebook post, explaining how Poe may be liable for ‘conflict of interest’.

According to Cruz-Angeles, Poe could only be punished for having a conflict of interest if someone proves that she’s having financial or material interest with the network.

This is what Cruz-Angeles said in her post.

“Can Sen Grace Poe be held liable for conflict of interest under Art. VI Section 14. which states:

No Senator or Member of the House of Representatives may personally appear as counsel before any court of justice or before the Electoral Tribunals, or quasi-judicial and other administrative bodies. Neither shall he, directly or indirectly, be interested financially in any contract with, or in any franchise or special privilege granted by the Government, or any subdivision, agency, or instrumentality thereof, including any government-owned or controlled corporation, or its subsidiary, during his term of office. He shall not intervene in any matter before any office of the Government for his pecuniary benefit or where he may be called upon to act on account of his office.

In relation to Sen. Poe, is the prohibition against having any financial interest in any franchise granted by the Government.

What is “having any financial interest”?

This line can be found in both the Anti Graft and Corrupt Practices Act Sec 3 (h) which states:

Directly or indirectly having financial or pecuniary interest in any business, contract or transaction in connection with which he intervenes or takes part in his official capacity, or in which he is prohibited by the Constitution or by any law from having any interest.

In RA 6013 Section 7. Prohibited Acts and Transactions. – In addition to acts and omissions of public officials and employees now prescribed in the Constitution and existing laws, the following shall constitute prohibited acts and transactions of any public official and employee and are hereby declared to be unlawful:

(a) Financial and material interest. – Public officials and employees shall not, directly or indirectly, have any financial or material interest in any transaction requiring the approval of their office.”

Poe is the chairperson of the Committee on Public Services that handled the investigation on ABS-CBN.

The lady Senator didn’t deny her connections with ABS-CBN.

“Number 1, I am the chairman of the Committee on Public Services. No.2, it’s no secret the business relationship of my family with ABS-CBN. No. 3, I am only one of 24 senators. Whatever I say, even if I am for it or against it, if the majority will not side with my opinion, it will not prevail,” Poe said in an interview.

Poe also said that she gave everyone a chance to speak during the senate hearing.

“The chairman of a hearing will allow everyone to speak. We were the ones, I in particular, made sure that the FICTAP (Federation of International Cable TV Associations of the Philippines), the ones against the renewal of the ABS-CBN franchise was invited. I allowed them to speak and everyone else. In fact, members of the labor group of ABS-CBN I didn’t call them, Sen. Angara I think asked,” she said.

“Suportado kayo ng Davao!” Mayor Inday Sara Duterte supports ABS-CBN franchise renewal

Davao City Mayor Inday Sara Duterte-Carpio said that she’s also one of the Filipinos hoping for ABS-CBN to get a franchise renewal.

In a chance interview in Sulu, Mayor Duterte said that Davao City is supportive to ABS-CBN amid the issue they being faced.

Inday Sara’s father, President Rodrigo Duterte opposed the franchise renewal of ABS-CBN many times; however, recently, the latter decided to accept the public apology of the executives of the broadcasting network.

“Davao City fully supports ABS-CBN sa kanilang pagpapa-renew ng kanilang franchise. Of course malaki din ang suporta ng ABS-CBN sa Davao City at sa buong bansa,” Duterte-Carpio said.

“Hopefully ma-resolve in a very positive way ang issue ng franchise ng ABS-CBN,” she added.

The presidential daughter believes that President Duterte is also considering the employees that could lose their jobs if ABS-CBN closes down.

“Alam niyo si Presidente Duterte, maawain yang tao so iniisip din niya yung trabaho ng mga maraming employees ng ABS-CBN,” she said.

Inday Sara made the said statement, one day after Duterte seems to soften his tune against ABS-CBN’s franchise.

Duterte accepted the apology of ABS-CBN CEO Karlo Katigbak and asked the network to just donate the refund for his unaired ads to any charity.

“Nandiyan na eh. I accept the apology, of course,” Duterte told reporters Wednesday at Malacanang.

However, he didn’t tell if he’s now supporting the franchise of the broadcasting company.

“I will cross the bridge when I get there. Maybe I will call the media to help me out. It would be a difficult decision, really. So I will… I will cross the bridge when I get there,” he said.

ABS-CBN quickly released a statement, thanking the President for accepting their apology.

They also announced that they’re going to follow the request of Duterte.

“We are grateful and humbled by President Rodrigo Duterte’s acceptance of our apology,” ABS-CBN said in a statement.

“We will coordinate with the President’s office as it relates to his guidance on donating the refund to a charitable institution,” it added.

Veteran journalist says ABS-CBN CEO Carlo Katigbak apology to Pres. Duterte is not sincere: “Sinungaling ka,sinadya ninyo iyon!”

A veteran journalist is not convinced of the apology of ABS-CBN chief executive officer (CEO) Carlo Katigbak and called the Kapamilya boss lier.

On a series of Facebook posts, ABS-CBN’s former news director Jay Sonza slammed Katigbak for his insincere apology and explained to his followers why he knows that the Kapamilya boss is lying to the President.

Yesterday, Katigbak apologized to the President and explained why they fail to air the ad of Duterte.

“We were sorry if we offended the President. We felt that we are just abiding with the laws and regulations that surround the airing of political ads,” Katigbak said.

“ABS (CBN) does not and will not have its own political agenda,” he added.

According to Sonza, the CEO is only trying to hide his true personality by talking calmly during the senate hearing.

“Carlo LOPEZ Katigbak played his role very well. Larawan siya ng nagbabalatkayong angel. di mo pag-iisipang may sa demonyo rin,” said Sonza.

“Carlo Lopez Katigbak kasasabi mo lang walang mali sa ginagawa nyo sa abs-cbn, Bakit ka nagsosori kay Duterte? why are you saying sorry when you just said there is nothing irregular in your conduct of business. Ano? nakikipaglokohan lang. for public consumption para sabihin nagsori na kami pero matigas si presidente at galit siya sa amin,” he also said.

According to him, ABS-CBN is the only television station that aired the anti-Duterte ad despite featuring minors talking about the sensitive topics about the President who’s a candidate during that time.

He argued that if ABS-CBN is a responsible company, they’re not going to air a commercial showing the faces of minors because it’s against the rules of KBP and MTRCB.

“Pogi, bata, Carlo, lahat ng network tinanggihan iyong nega-child anti Du30 campaign ads placed by trillanes. bukod tanging abs-cbn lang ang umere ng material. sinungaling ka sinadya ninyo iyon. tapos kunwari magsosori kang hayop ka. akala mo maloloko mo kami,” Sonza said.

“Lahat ng placement noon ay payment before broadcast in cold cash. walang tseke-tseke.
kung totoong responsible kayo sa abs-cbn. isang tingin pa lang hindi papasa iyong material for airing. the minors and their faces were not solarized which is required by KBP standards authority, MTRCB and other circulars, including your very own abs-cbn ethical standards,” he added.

Sonza also said that Katigbak is wrong for comparing the pay-per-view being offered by ABS-CBN to Youtube and Netflix because the two foreign companies are using the internet to distribute their shows, while KBO is still using airwaves.

He then called Senator Grace Poe as the “most important talent” of Kapamilya network.

“Meet the most important in-house artist/talent of the Kapamilya Network. Grace Poe-Llamanzares, former partner at MTRCB, now ours at the Philippine Senate. Grace is our most dependable performer. She’s not a lawyer, pero maaasahang tagapagtanggol!” Sonza wrote.

Sonza is considered as one of the most vocal critics of ABS-CBN, he also faced a legal battle with his former network two decades ago.

Netizen criticized actor Coco Martin for declaring that the fight for ABS-CBN is also the battle for the Filipino people.

Noel Landero Sarifa via Facebook wrote an open letter addressing the top Kapamilya star who recently expressed his support to his home station.

Sarifa questioned Martin why the latter is insisting that Filipinos should also join the fight for a private company.

He also asked the actor why people should defend a company that allegedly spreading mind conditioning news.

The netizen also reminded Martin that the issue on ABS-CBN is not a teleserye that he could control the outcome.

You can read his whole post below:

Coco Martin/AKA Cardo,

Ang Owner ang ABS-CBN ay ABS-CBN Corporation, it is not a state owned company. Renewal of Franchise is a company and private matter, why would it be our fight?

Why would we fight for someone who gives us bias and mind conditioning news and programs? Ipaglalaban namin ang nanloloko sa taumbayan? This is not about Probinsyano, at kahit ung programa mo pa ang pag-uusapan, hindi namin ipaglalaban.

It is your company’s responsibility.

A few days ago, Martin said that the government should not stop the people from expressing their opinions on the ABS-CBN issue.

He also pointed out how the network helped many people including him.

The franchise of ABS-CBN is set to expire in March 2020, however, the Department of Justice (DOJ) gave another two months extension to the broadcasting network.

Sen. Dela Rosa asks ABS-CBN execs: Amerikano o Pilipino ba si Gabby Lopez?

Senator Ronald Dela Rosa asked the top officials of ABS-CBN if they’re aware of the real citizenship of their boss Eugenio “Gabby” Lopez III.

During the senate hearing on the ABS-CBN franchise, Dela Rosa mentioned an article wrote by the Manila Times columnist Rigoberto D. Tiglao claiming that Lopez is an U.s citizen who’s still traveling using his American passport.

“Amerikano ba siya o Pilipino?” Dela Rosa asked the ABS-CBN executives.

As a response, ABS-CBN chief executive officer Carlo Katigbak said that Lopez is a Filipino citizen.

“Sa pagkaka alam ko po, Gabby Lopez is a Filipino citizen yung tatay niya po ay Pilipino at may hawak din po siyang Philippine passport,” Katigbak said.

Dela Rosa questioned how a U.S citizen like Lopez led a television network despite the foreign ownership restriction of mass media.

“Sabi dito sa article na to, Gabby Lopez has been with the company since 1987 at naging Pilipino lang siya during the application of naturalization law noong 2004, so ibig sabihin eighteen years siyang nagba-violate ng batas ang ABS-CBN kung before the naturalization law took effect siya ay U.S citizen,” Dela Rosa said.

Senator Drilon who wrote the dual citizenship act of 2003 explained to the committee that the purpose of the said law.

“The purpose was to revert to Filipino citizenship all those who lost their Filipino citizenship because of the 1932 law, therefore in effect, you are reverting to your Filipino citizenship from birth once you reacquire Filipino citizenship. In effect, retroactive,” Drilon said.

Meanwhile, ABS-CBN General Counsel Atty. Mario Bautista said that they’re going to send documents that would prove that Lopez is a Filipino citizen.

When Dela Rosa asked Drilon if the days when Lopez led the network while being a U.S citizen was disregarded, the Senator from Iloilo said that “you are never presumed to have lost your PH citizenship”.

According to Tiglao’s sources, Lopez was advised by his lawyers to acquire Philippine citizenship to avoid violating the constitutional ban on foreigners in media.

“While it isn’t clear whether the ban on foreigners in media applies to a dual citizen, it is incontrovertible that ABS-CBN violated the Constitution for 18 years, from 1986 to 2004, when Lopez was in its top management and one of its six biggest individual stockholders yet had solely US citizenship,” Tiglao wrote.

“May nilabag ba?” Sen. Dela Rosa questions NTC over pay-per-view services of ABS-CBN

Senator Ronald Dela Rosa questioned the National Communication Association (NTC) about the possible violations made by ABS-CBN when they offered pay-per-view services in their Digital Terrestrial TV (DTT) service ‘TVplus’.

Recently, the Department of Justice (DOJ) said that the pay-per-view service being offered by TVPlus is legal, but should be subject to guidelines of NTC.

“We interpreted commercial purposes broad enough to include other sources of income apart from advertising but subject to guidelines NTC might impose,” DOJ Secretary Menardo Guevarra said.

To confirm the statement from DOJ, Dela Rosa asked NTC if they already set guidelines for pay-per-view products being offered by ABS-CBN, however, they said that they’re still working on it.

“Dati po kasi ang business model ng ating mga broadcasters ay yung pag air ng mga advertisements, ngayon po ay nadagdagan na because of this digital technology,” NTC Commissioner Gamaliel Cordoba said.

“Dapat po ay gagawa na kami ng implementing rules and regulations, kaya lang po mayroon po kasing gustong i-clarify pa ang mga broadcasters doon sa opinion that was given by DOJ,” he added.

According to them, they already informed ABS-CBN many times to avoid offering pay-per-view services for now while waiting for the implementing rules and regulations.

Dela Rosa brought up the topic about NTC warned ABS-CBN on offering pay-per-view packages for the Pacquiao-Mayweather fight in 2015 and asked about their legal basis on their action against the TV network.

NTC explained that the Department of Information and Communications Technology told them that in the meantime, ABS-CBN and other networks should avoid offering pay-per-view services until there are no rules and regulations about the matter.

However, the Senator mentioned several pay-per-view programs that aired by ABS-CBN despite the warnings from NTC.

Donaire-Bedak Fight, Pinay Pride 38, Pinoy Pride 41, 2019 ABS-CBN ball, the concert of TNT boys and homecoming concert of Catriona Gray are the shows mentioned by Senator Bato which allegedly aired by ABS-CBN under pay-per-view service.

NTC told the senators that the only thing they can do to the networks disregarding their warnings is to fine the network by P200 per violation.

Dela Rosa urged NTC to make rules and regulations about the pay-per-view services as soon as possible so the networks are not going to misuse it.

ABS-CBN CEO Karlo Katigbak then clarified that offering pay-per-view services did not violate any provision on their franchise.

He pointed out that the word “commercial services” is broad enough for them to offer paid services like TVplus’ KBO.

Katigbak also said that the pay-per-view they’re offering are the cheapest services they could offer to their subscribers.

The CEO also mentioned companies like Youtube and Netflix which offering pay-per-view services despite having no franchise in the Philippines.

Bato also clarified that he’s not hiding any anger towards ABS-CBN.

“For the record, hindi ko binanggit ang pay-per-view niyo sa KBO dahil against ako dito. I’m just giving you the opportunity to..kasi sabi ko nga, dapat meron tayong hearing para malam natin kugn kayo bang ABS-CBN ay santo o makasalanan,” Dela Rosa said.

“Sabi ng DOJ, NTC, wala kayong vina-violate, eh napakagandang pakinggan noon. I am one step closer to supporting the renewal of your franchise with that answer,” he added.
