Korina Sanchez calls netizen ‘bruha’ for criticizing ABS-CBN after its closure

Broadcaster Korina Sanchez-Roxas couldn’t stop herself from criticizing the public officials who pushed for the closure of ABS-CBN and also the netizens who are cheering for what happened to the Kapamilya network.

On her lengthy Facebook post, Sanchez criticized Solicitor General Jose Calida and revealed that the latter was close to her mother because they’re attending the same bible study session in the past.

Sanchez couldn’t understand why Calida suddenly became aggressive with ABS-CBN and she even asked the Solicitor General if he already changed his religious beliefs.

“SolGen Joe Calida used to be very close to my Mom Celia Sanchez. They attend the same Bible Study. Sino na kaya ngayon ang Diyos ni Calida? Pilit pinapasarado ang ABSCBN kahit labag sa batas? Kelan at paano kaya pwede ipakulong ang mga totoong abusado?” Sanchez said.

@korina

Most of the followers of Sanchez expressed their support to the Kapamilya network, but some netizens chose to defend the decision of the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) like @romelaigne.

“Anong abuso?? Wala na kayong franchise! That’s it! Sus!!” the netizen told Sanchez.

The veteran journalist made a short comment to ask the netizen to leave.

“@romelaigne Please leave. Bruha ka.” Sanchez said.

@korina

Another netizen, @thetheamae tried to defend the NTC’s decision, telling Sanchez not to underestimate the Philippine law.

She also mentioned the viral interview of GMA-7 with the Federation Of International Cable T.V. Association Of The Philippines (Ficap) explaining the issues being faced by ABS-CBN.

“Thats ok itama nlng ang mga mali.Plain and simple never estemated the Philippine Law. FICTAP interview made it clear na hindi ito tungkol sa ‘freedom of the press’, gaya ng nababasa ko sa mga coworkers mo. rather, ABS-CBN’s franchise controversy is an issue of ‘unfair competition’ which kills small broadcasting and cable operators, and the general public who’s been paying ABS-CBN for their services which violates for their ‘Free-to-air’ license. Ngayon lang sinusubukang itama, at nagkataon lang na mapapaso na ang franchise nila kaya nagkaroon ng ingay.stop blaming the Government!” @thetheamae told Sanchez.

“My family here are TFC subcribers for a decade and now we cant watch na din..be open minded nlng kasi may mga hidded agenda e,” @thetheamae added.

Sanchez also made a short comment to the netizen and suggested to check her grammar, or better use her native language.

“@thetheamae Oh Puhleeeez itama mo muna ingles mo o kaya magtagalog ka nalang kaya?” Sanchez commented.

On May 5, ABS-CBN was told by NTC to close down via a Cease and Desist order.

ABS-CBN quickly complied with NTC order and signed off around 7 PM yesterday.

Children of contractual employees of ABS-CBN tells Bianca Gonzalez: “My father never got a single centavo from the network during the ECQ”

Television host Bianca Gonzales shared the good news to the employees of ABS-CBN after the sudden closure of the Kapamilya network due to the orders of the National Telecommunications Commission.

On her Facebook post, Gonzalez revealed that despite being forced to shut down, the management of ABS-CBN vowed to continue paying their employees for the next three months.

“Our bosses in a live chat with employees after broadcast ended: For the next three months, wala pong mawawalan ng trabaho due to retrenchment. Active ang lahat ng benefits, including medical, sa panahon na ito,” Gonzalez said.

“Never been prouder to be a Kapamilya,” she added.

The post of Gonzalez has gone viral on social media and some of the people who saw the tweet of the television host are relatives of some contractual employees of ABS-CBN.

According to them, they’re hoping that the contractual employees of ABS-CBN are also included in the plan of the network’s management.

Netizen @REALPrinceJoson told Gonzales that his stepfather is working for the Kapamilya network for 17 years already, but until now he’s still not a regular employee of ABS-CBN.

He’s hoping that his father was included to the people that would receive aid from the network.

“Hello Ms. @iamsuperbianca , my step father is working for ABS-CBN under Star Cinema. Almost 17 years na siya as Generator/Mechanic/Driver. Sa loob ng long period of time hindi parin siya nareregular ng ABS-CBN (17YEARS). 1/2,” Prince Joson said.

“Sa totoo lang po hindi lang naman po si ABS-CBN ang may ganyang practice. Marami pong ibang malalaki pang kumpanya sa hindi nagreregular sa mga empleyado nila or contractual kung tawagin. Sana po huwag nilang kalimutan ang mga maliliit nilang mangagawa at ituloy parin ang sahod,” he added.

Another follower of Gonzalez, @arien0425 told the television host that her father was working as a crowd control for ABS-CBN, however he never got a single centavo from the network amid the enhanced community quarantine being implemented by the government.

“Sana po kasama yung mga crew na no work no pay, my father is a crowd control and he never got a single centavo from the network during the past month They only got a P1500 that was given from some of the artist last week, more than a month after the quarantine,” @arien0425 tweeted.

Meanwhile, another employee of ABS-CBN told Gonzales that the television host should not share information about the live chat.

“Hi Ms. Bianca! I hope you notice me. I’m an employee of ABS, too. I also watched the Chat with MLL and CLK. As far as I know, per Sir Robert Labayen, the discussion was for employees only and di pwede irecord/ilabas. Thank you po!” she said.

To prove her claims, she even posted a clip from the video teleconference.

As of writing, the post of Gonzalez already reached 77,600 likes on Twitter.

Coco Martin slams people behind ABS-CBN closure: “Tinatarantado ninyo ang mga Pilipino!”

One of the biggest stars of ABS-CBN reacted to the closure of his home network due to the order of the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC).

‘Ang Probinsiyano’ leading star Coco Martin couldn’t hide his anger towards the people behind the closure of the Kapamilya network and posted a lengthy message against them on his social media account.

According to his Instagram post, Martin said that he should already speak against the people who wanted to close down ABS-CBN, saying that he’s not even sure if he’s going to survive the pandemic.

He’s hoping that the people behind the closure of ABS-CBN are now happy and celebrating.

Martin then called them out for having lack of conscience for still pushing to shut down ABS-CBN that could resulted to the lost of 11,000 jobs.

Martin said that he’s already done of being diplomatic and now he’s going to speak the language that the ABS-CBN critic would understand.

He believed that the actions against ABS-CBN is unfair and should be corrected.

Before he ended his post, Martin mentioned Solicitor General Jose Calida and the members of the NTC thanking them for fooling the Filipino people.

“Maraming maraming salamat Solicitor General Joe Calida at sa bumubuo ng National Telecommunications Commission sa kontribusyon niyo sa ating bayan! TINATARANTADO NINYO ANG MGA PILIPINO!!!” he said.

Several members of the House of the Representatives slammed Calida for trying to pressure NTC not to let ABS-CBN continue its operations.

The franchise issue of ABS-CBN started when President Rodrigo Duterte to criticize the said television network and even vowed not to let them renew their franchise.

Two months ago, President Duterte accepted the apology from ABS-CBN management, however, he said that the future of the network is still up for the Congress to decide.

“I tell you, I am not going to interfere, wala talaga,” Duterte said.

Vice Ganda on ABS-CBN shut down: Kawawa ang buong bansa at lahat ng Pilipino!

Comedian Jose Marie Viceral also known as Vice Ganda said that not only the employees of ABS-CBN but also the whole Filipino nation could suffer because of the closure of the Kapamilya Network on May 5.

Viceral joined the other celebrities who expressed support to ABS-CBN after they were forced to stop their operations on May 5 because of a Cease and Desist Order filed by NTC against them.

He called the action against ABS-CBN as cruel, because the information being brought by the Kapamilya network was needed especially amid the COVID-19 crisis.

“Di lang ang network at ang mga empleyado ang kawawa kundi ang buong bansa at lahat ng Pilipinong napagkaitan ng kailangang kailangang serbisyo sa oras na ito ng pandemya. ANG LUPIT!” Viceral said.

“Lord God i believe in you and your power. Alam ko pong nakikita nyo ang lahat. Kayo na po ang bahala sa amin at sa kanila,” he added.

Two months ago, Viceral expressed fear over the possible closure of ABS-CBN.

“Ikalulungkot ng higit na nakararaming Pilipino sa Pilipinas at sa buong mundo kung isasara ang ABS-CBN. #NoToABSCBNShutDown,” he tweeted.

Last year, Viceral even made a joke about the Kingdom of Jesus Christ leader Pastor Apollo Quiboloy after the latter claim that he stopped a quake in Mindanao.

“Nako, kabahan si Cardo! Ang pinakakalaban ni Cardo, ang feeling ko, si Quiboloy. ‘Yung nagpahinto ng lindol. Si Quiboloy lang ang magpapahinto ng ‘Ang Probinsyano,’ abangan niyo ‘yan,” Viceral said.

“So ano, Quiboloy, hinahamon kita, ipahinto mo nga ang ‘Probinsyano!’ Napahinto mo pala ang lindol, e. Napakayabang niyo pala!” he added.

As response, Quiboloy said that Viceral should be careful of what he wish for.

Ikaw, magpili ka, kelan mo ba gustong mai-stop? Isang buwan? Dalawang buwan? Tatlong buwan? Apat na buwan? Ikaw, pili ka.” Quiboloy told Viceral.

“Baka sa apat na buwan, hindi lang yung Probinsyano ang mai-stop, baka pati yung network mo stop na ‘yan.” he added.

On May 5, ABS-CBN followed the order of NTC to close down their operations.

The order will cover 42 television stations nationwide, 18 FM stations and 5 AM stations.

“Millions of Filipinos will lose their source of news and entertainment when ABS-CBN is ordered to go off-air on TV and radio tonight (5 May 2020) when people need crucial and timely information as the nation deals with the COVID-19 pandemic,” said ABS-CBN Corp. in a statement.

“This is in compliance with the cease and desist order issued by the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) today that prohibits ABS-CBN from continuing its broadcast operations effective immediately,” it added.

The Kapamilya network also reminded the public about their contribution amid the COVID-19 crisis.

“ABS-CBN has been providing comprehensive news coverage on the public health crisis and working with local governments and the private sector in providing food and basic goods for those in need through its “Pantawid ng Pag-ibig” campaign. To date, it has delivered over P300 million worth of goods for the benefit of over 600,000 families affected by the enhanced community quarantine,” the network said.

Noli De Castro makes an emotional message before ABS-CBN’s shut down: “Hindi kami mananahimik sa pag atakeng ito”

Former Vice President and veteran ABS-CBN journalist Noli De Castro made an emotional farewell message to the fans of the Kapamilya network.

De Castro who led the last episode of TV patrol after the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) ordered ABS-CBN to shut down their operations said that they’re thankful for the support they received from the Filipino people for many decades.

“Karangalan po namin na maging tagapag-lahad ng inyong mga kwento, at taga bantay sa mga nasa kapangyarihan, karangalan po namin na mag lingkod sa inyo kabayan,” De Castro said.

According to him, despite being forced to close down, ABS-CBN reporters including him would not be silenced by the said attempt against the freedom of the press and democracy.

The #NoToABSCBNShutDown became the most talked topic on Twitter, reaching 430,000 tweets as of writing.

On May 5, NTC issued a Cease and Desist Order against ABS-CBN after its 25-year franchise expired on May 4.

“The NTC Regional Offices shall implement the closure order in their respective areas of jurisdiction,” NTC said in a statement.

Meanwhile, the House of Representatives warned NTC that they might face contempt for ordering the closure of ABS-CBN.

“With the legal opinion of the Department of Justice and the authority given by the House of Representatives, there is no reason for ABS-CBN to discontinue or stop their operations until we make a final decision,” Rep. Franz Alvarez said in a statement.

“If the NTC chooses to succumb to the pressure of the Solicitor General, and disregard the commitments they gave under oath, we reserve the right to call them before Congress and explain why they should not be held in contempt,” he added.

President Duterte mentions kagawad who caught allegedly corrupting SAP: “Ikaw may trabaho ka, kukunin mo pa yung pera ng mahirap!”

President Rodrigo Duterte during the meeting of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) made a special mention to a barangay kagawad who recently caught for allegedly corrupting the funds of the social amelioration program (SAP).

Duterte mentioned Kagawad Danilo Flores of Barangay San Agustin, Hagonoy, Bulacan who recently gone viral on the internet after he told some residents of their barangay that they’re only going to get 3,000 pesos instead of 6,500 from the SAP.

In the video posted by a concerned citizen, it showed Flores debating with some residents about the SAP.

Flores insisted and claimed that the Mayor of Hagonoy decided to cut the SAP so they could cover all the poor families in their place.

The Kagawad also warned the residents not to post their conversation on social media because the Mayor might get angry.

Duterte was informed about the action made by Flores so he called out the Kagawad and cursed him for corrupting the funds meant for the poor people.

“Sinabi ko na sa inyo na kung may gagawin kayo, ‘wag sa panahon ko… sinabi ko na noon pa, sinabi ko na sa kanila,” Duterte said.

The President asked the Mayors to supervise their local officials to prevent any form of corruption during the distribution of financial aid.

“Katulad nalang nitong si Kagawad Danilo Flores ng San Agustin, Hagonoy, Bulacan, ang p*t*ng in* m* nakuha ka pa ng television na hinihingi mo (yung SAP),” Duterte said.

“Ikaw may trabaho ka na, kagawad ka, ang p*t*ng in* kukunin mo pa yung pera ng mahirap, I’d like to presume that you were elected because your constituents find you to be a man of integrity and honesty and you can perform,” he added.

Flores was sacked by the members of the Hagonoy, Police yesterday.

The Kagawad is now facing charges for violation of Sec. 3(b) RA 3019 also known as the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act.

Mayor Raulito Manlapaz of Hagonoy also denied that he ordered Flores to cut the financial aid for his constituents.

President Duterte offers 30,000 to people that will give information about local officials corrupting SAP funds

President Rodrigo Duterte vowed to reward anyone that would give vital information to caught barangay officials or other workers of local government unit allegedly corrupting the funds being used for the Social Amelioration Program (SAP) of the government.

During the meeting of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID), Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said that Duterte offered 30,000 to people that would help the national government to catch corrupt public officials.

“Siya po ay magbibigay ng pabuya na 30,000 pesos sa lahat ng po ng mga mag rereport ng local officials na kumakana o kinukurakot ang mga ayuda para sa mahihirap,” Roque said.

People should contact the 24/7 national public service of the government hotline 8888 if they have information about the suspected local officials.

During the meeting, Duterte also cursed at a barangay local officials for being caught corrupting the funds for the SAP.

“Sinabi ko na sa kanila na kung may gagawin sila, wag sa panahon ngayon,” Duterte said.

He also urged the Mayors to look at the people they trusted to distribute the financial aid to their constituents.

DILG Usec. Diño warns barangay officials corrupting SAP funds: “Sisiguraduhin na makukulong kayo ‘pag magnanakaw kayo!”

Department of Interior Local Government (DILG) Undersecretary for Barangay Affairs Martin Diño warned the barangay officials who are trying to corrupt the funds being used for the social amelioration program (SAP) of the government.

In a Facebook video, Diño said that he’s already talking with the Commission on Audit (COA) to assure that all Barangay captains would show transparency on how they distributed the financial aid to their constituents, or else they might face charges before the Office of the Ombudsman.

“Mga magnanakaw na kapitan at mga barangay officials, this time kamukha dito kausap ko ang COA , pinag-aaral nila ngayon na pag hindi nakapag-liqudate ang kapitan, within 3 months, diretso sa ombudsman. Lahat! Buong Pilipinas,” Diño stated.

According to him, all barangay officials who were proven to commit graft and corruption would face not only suspension from their current public position but also detention.

Diño revealed that they received over 2,000 complaints against barangay officials who received the funds from the SAP.

Under the SAP, 18-M poorest of the poor families should receive P5,000 to P8,000 from the government amid the enhanced community quarantine being implemented in different parts of the country.

Ano ba naman yan Mr. President! Journalist on mandatory Philhealth contri for OFWs: Sa SAP disqualified sila pero sa kaltas sa Philhealth hindi?

Journalist Jay Sonza couldn’t hide his disappointment after hearing the news that Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) were mandated to contribute 3% of their monthly salary to the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth).

Under PhilHealth Circular No. 2020-0014, OFWs with income of 10,000 to 20,000 will be required to pay 3 percent of their monthly salary.

Sonza addressed President Rodrigo Duterte, asking why OFWs were mandated to give the 3% of their monthly salaries while their relatives in the Philippines were disqualified from the Social Amelioration Program (SAP) of the government.

“Sa SAP disqualified ang pamilyang may abroad, pero kaltas OFW PhilHealth mandatory increase. Ano ba naman iyan Mr. President?” Sonza asked.

“Bakit ginagawang parang gatasan ng gobyerno (philhealth) ang MIGRANTENG Pilipino (OFW)?” he added.

It was reported that some people were disqualified from receiving financial aid from the government because they have a close relative working abroad.

However, according to the Department of Labor and Employment, OFWs affected by the COVID-19 would receive 10,000 pesos from the government under DOLE-AKAP assistance.

DSWD Secretary Rolando Bautista also said that relatives of stranded OFWs may also be included in the list of SAP beneficiaries.

The veteran journalist also blamed Senator Risa Hontiveros for what’s happening.

“Sa SSS contribution, may pension ka. sa Pagibig Fund, may housing na, may savings pa. 9 May Pakinabang. May Balik. Sa PhilHealth deduction, pagtapos ng taon, wala na. Pagsimula ng taon, deduction na naman, pagtapos na ang taon, back to zero na naman. Walang balik. Walang pakinabang. SI SENADOR RISA HONTIVEROS LANG ANG NAKINABANG !!!!” he said.

According to an online petition against the mandatory premium payment, anyone who didn’t pay the mandatory payment might be forced to pay all the missed contributions with interest and penalty.

“I believe that this is already too much of them to ask for an interest rate and a penalty which is very unfair and inhumane for those who travel away from their families to work. It is very unfortunate that they call OFWs modern heroes and yet they penalize us with such directives,” the petition reads.

OFWs also slammed Philhealth for adding burden to them.

“Shame to PhilHealth. It a heavy burden to all OFWs. How you’ll trust a corrupt agency that cannot even provide medical needs to OFWs working overseas. STOP using overseas workers as a milking cow,” one of the people who signed the online petition said.

Even Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. opposed the increase of premium contribution.

“After the abolition of the income tax on OFWs, they’ve figured another way to tax you for your great privilege of being born Filipino, poor and jobless at home. Let’s all sing for nothing,” Locsin wrote.

President Duterte is not yet giving a comment on the said issue.

Pang aso yan! Residents of Baliuag Bulacan return rice saying that it’s poor-quality

Residents of Barangay Poblacion, Baliuag Bulacan raised the eyebrows of the netizens after they returned the rice distributed for them because of being poor-quality.

In a video posted by netizen Marikit Alvaran, it showed the residents putting the packs of rice inside a sack while mocking its quality.

One resident even called the rice fit for dogs only.

“Hindi ako kumakain niyan,” the first woman said.

“Ayan, para sa aso,” the second lady remarked.

Netizens couldn’t hide their anger over the residents who returned the rice.

“Kayo na biniyayaan, kakapal pa ng mukha ibalik. Hoy! Hindi lang kayo ang nangangailangan ng makakain araw-araw! Ibigay yan sa mga taong mas nangangailangan! Ke aarte! Tapos pag wala na makain, sa gobyerno aasa! Titigas ng mukha! Akala niyo naman sa mansion kayo nakatira. Pwe! Grasya tinatanggihan!” netizen Jance Teodoro said.

“Hay grabe gusto nyo palitan? Sana magpasalamat pa kayo. Maliit man yan or malaki. Maraming tao ang mas nangangailangan pero di bibigyan ng tulong,” netizen Clea Spedding commented.

While some social media users said that the rice may be really inedible because of its poor-quality, several supporters of the Captain of Barangay Poblacion Christopher Alvaran cooked it to show that it’s a fine grain.

Alvaran also posted a message addressed to the critics of the Barangay Captain of Poblacion.

“Si Kap na isang kilo eyebag masigurado lang na lahat kakain. Yung mga frontliners na naghakot, nagrepack, nagpamigay. Yung mga tanod na puyat kakabantay para masigurong walang magkakasakit. At yung mga TAXPAYERS na nag ambag ambag para sa kapwa Pilipino. Mahiya kayo!!! Si Mayor Ferdie may pamanok pa and pa almushare araw-araw. Kayo? Hihilahilata tapos pag bigayan, pag di pasok sa standards nyong akala nyo anak kayo ni Belo kung makapag inarte. Aba matindi!” she said.

As of writing the video already reached 13,000 shares on social media.
