An individual who introduced themselves as the grandchild of late showbiz manager Dr. Rey dela Cruz claimed that he had information that could link the passing of his grandfather to what happened to actress Pepsi Paloma.

It can be recalled that Pepsi, being managed by Dela Cruz, passed away in 1985 after months of scrutiny from the fans of comedians Vic Sotto, Joey de Leon, and Richie D’ Horsie.

Pepsi claimed that Vic, Joey, and Richie took advantage of her at a hotel.

Supporters of the accused blamed Dela Cruz for using the three comedians to promote his talent.

However, the netizen who claimed to be Dela Cruz’s grandchild denied such claims and even said that the talent manager’s passing was connected to Pepsi’s case.

In a Facebook post, Director Darryl Yap shared a message he received from the said netizen.

Darryl announced several weeks ago that he would produce a movie about Pepsi’s life.

“Let me introduce myself, apo po ako ni Dr Rey Dela Cruz, ang talent manager ni Pepsi, ang lola ko si Leoncia Dela Cruz ay panganay na kapatid nila Dr Rey,” he said.

“Meron ako information from a credible source from the National Police na ang pagkamatay ng lolo Rey ko ay connected sa pagkamatay ni Ms Delia Smith,” he added.

Journalist Anthony “Ka Tunying” Taberna couldn’t stop himself from criticizing the administration of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

In a video he published on social media, Taberna said corruption was already rampant in the country.

“Ako ay naniniwala na garapal ang katiwalian sa pamahalaan sa ilalim ni Pangulong Bongbong Marcos ngayon,” said Taberna.

He then encouraged Marcos to speak against the congressmen and senators allegedly getting kickbacks from government projects.

“Dapat magsalita na si Pangulong Bongbong Marcos tungkol sa mga porsyente ng mga congressman at senator sa mga government projects,” said Taberna.

“Kung hindi siya magsalita dito, sasabihin ko na kinokonsinti niya ang katiwalian sa pamahalaan pero ngayon po garapal ang katiwalian sa pamahalaan,” he added.

Taberna was formerly supportive of the Marcos administration.

Amid the feud between the Marcoses and the Dutertes, public opinion noticed a shift toward both camps.

Veteran journalist Ramon Tulfo addressed the netizens after he received criticism for his claims that Vice President Sara Duterte and her chief of staff, Atty. Zuleika Lopez had a relationship.

In his Facebook post, Ramon insisted that the alleged romantic relationship between Duterte and Zuleika was relevant because they were both public officials.

He also clarified that he was not against the LGBTQIA+ community.

“Kung wala sanang involved na pera ng taumbayan at di sila public officials ay wala tayong pakialam sa relasyon nina Vice President Sara at Zuleika Lopez na kanyang chief of staff sa Office of the Vice President (OVP). Kung hindi sana sila public officials ay walang pakialam ang taumbayan kung nagpupompiyangan sila,” said Tulfo.

“We live in a permissive world where a man marries another man and a woman makes love to another woman. Pero ang pinag-uusapan natin ay kung saan o paano ginastos ang confidential and intelligence fund (CIF) na inihabilin kay Sara ng taumbayan bilang vice president at noon ay education secretary,” he added.

Journalist Ben Tulfo distanced himself from the statement made by his older brother, Ramon Tulfo.

It can be recalled that Ramon claimed Vice President Sara Duterte and her chief of staff, Zuleika Lopez, were having a romantic relationship, which explained why the latter was so protective of her staff.

“Bakit ayaw iwanan ni Vice President Sara Duterte ang kanyang chief of staff na si Zuleika Lopez sa Batasang Pambansa detention facility?” ani Tulfo.

“Sara cares so much for Lopez she has decided to stay with her at the House jail leaving congressmen puzzled. Gusto ba talaga ninyong malaman? Ok, ito ang sagot: si Sara at Zuleika ay matagal magkasintahan.  Di ba ninyo nahahalata? Sara is a lesbian. Tomboy or AC-DC siya. Puwedeng sa lalake at sa babae. Siya ay bisexual. Matagal nang alam ng mga taga Davao ang relasyon nina Sara at Zuleika,” he added.

In his post last November 23, 2024, Ben insisted that despite being Mon’s brother, their beliefs and opinions differed.

“Iisa ang aming apelyido, TULFO! Iisang dugo ang dumadaloy sa aming mga ugat. Subalit, magkakaiba ang aming pananampalataya, prinsipyo, paninindigan at pananaw.
Ako si BEN, kilalang si BITAG! Sawa na ako sa pananahimik,” he said.

“Ang kaniyang kinakalaban at mga kalaban ay sa kaniya lang. His choice, his consequence,” he added.

Fans of Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez were not happy after they saw a poster of Myx Global, an event under ABS-CBN.

The said poster shows Regine’s billing, which was leveled with Chloe San Jose.

Billing is the order or placement of artists in a poster, and its order is based on their fame or recognition.

In the case of Myx Global poster, P-Pop group BINI members Jhoanna, Maloi, and ABS-CBN artists James Reid and Fyang Smith got the biggest placement on the billing due to their fame, while Regine got a smaller picture like Chloe San Jose.

Some netizens were not happy as they believed that the people who made the billing was trying to level Regine to Chloe.

The members of the ABS-CBN Digital Team already apologized to Regine, which she quickly accepted.

Regine said that she already accepted the fact that her popularity already faded.

Ater Ramon Tulfo’s claim against Vice President Sara Duterte and Atty. Zuleika Lopez, some netizens couldn’t stop themselves from mentioning the incident that happened to the journalist in 2012.

It can be recalled that Tulfo claimed that Duterte and Lopez had a relationship. Some netizens criticized the journalist, saying that his habit of making such outlandish claims was also the reason why Claudine Barretto and Raymart Santiago confronted him at an airport more than a decade ago.

The airport incident which gathered the attention of the nation

Mon was waiting at a baggage counter at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 on May 3, 2012, when he crossed paths with Claudine and Raymart.

According to several witnesses, the three were involved in a scuffle.

A video circulated on social media also showed Mon being manhandled by the former couple.

There were several versions of how the confrontation started: according to Tulfo, he helped an airline company employee being shouted at by Claudine, while according to the former couple’s camp, the journalist took photos of them during the incident without permission.

Both camps accused each other of starting the physical confrontation.

“Isusulat ko sana kasi, ‘yung babae nagsisisigaw, minumura niya ‘yung counter girl at sinasabi niyang ipatatanggal niya sa trabaho, at inutusan niyang tumawag sa mga Gokongwei dahil kakausapin daw niya,” Tulfo said.

The issue was even escalated when Tulfo’s other brothers, Erwin, Raffy, and Ben, openly criticized Claudine and Raymart on national television, which resulted in their suspension.

The post made by Tulfo received criticism from the LGBTQIA+ community for using a slur against them.

Blockbuster Queen Kathryn Bernardo said that she dedicated her house, ‘Casa Bernardo’ to her parents.

In an interview with Bianca Gonzales, Kathryn said that the house she built in Antipolo was not only a gift for herself, but also for her parents.

“It’s more than fulfilling. Kasi more than my dream house, that house is really for my family. For my mama and papa,” said Kathryn. “Not that they asked me to build that house for them, but it was like a promise to myself na someday I want to give them their dream house which happened last quarter last year.”

Kathryn said that she really built her house for her family and for their future children.

“We want it to feel like home, especially for the kids. Kasi sila naman na eh, sa next generation, ‘yung future family ko, may pupuntahan sila. Para lang sure na meron silang matatawag na home. ‘Yun ‘yung purpose ‘nun,” she stated.

However, she admitted that she was still not used to living in a luxurious house, but she felt at home due to her parents’ presence.

“Everytime I go home, tapos gigising ka nandon, weird pa rin in a way kasi hindi kami sanay na sobrang ganoon kalaki. It’s so nice kasi alam kong masaya rin ‘yung mom ko ‘dun sa bahay,” she said.

According to Kathryn, the project was postponed many times because of several circumstances, including the pandemic.

Mercy Sunot’s sister asked the people for compassion as several news websites sensationalized the passing of the late Aegis vocalist.

Juliet Sunot, who is also one of the vocalists of Aegis, made a public statement denying that she made any statement regarding her sister’s passing.

It can be recalled that several posts claimed that Mercy had vices that caused her illness.

“MAY I HUMBLY ASK THEN , THAT PEOPLE REFRAIN FROM TAILORING STORIES ABOUT MY SISTER MERCY, QUOTING ME OF STATEMENTS I NEVER MADE, AND MAY WE BE ALLOWED PRIVACY WHILE WE DRAW IN ALL THAT HAS HAPPENED TO MY SISTER,” said Juliet.

“ALLOW ME TO REITERATE, I, JULIET SONOT OF AEGIS, HAD NEVER COMMUNICATED WITH ANYONE FOR INTERVIEWS & HAD NEVER MADE STATEMENTS THAT MERCY WAS INTO ANY VICES,” she added.

Aegis also released a statement regarding the issue.

“Kami po ay taus-pusong nananawagan sa lahat na huwag po sanang paniwalaan ang mga kumakalat na maling impormasyon tungkol kay Mercy. Hindi po siya gumagamit ng anumang bisyo, at siya ay hindi naninigarilyo o umiinom. Wala rin pong anumang panayam na ibinigay si Juliet na naglalaman ng mga pahayag laban sa kanyang kapatid. Nais po naming humiling ng respeto, hindi lamang para kay Mercy, kundi pati na rin para sa kanyang pamilya,” the band statement read.

It can be recalled that Mercy passed away on November 18 at the age of 48.

Speculations were circulating in the industry that GMA Network’s top-rated noontime show, It’s Showtime, would be replaced by TiktoClock on their noontime slot.

TiktoClock was the original show by GMA Network, which was currently the pre-programming of It’s Showtime.

Kim Atienza, Pokwang, Herelene Budol, and other Sparkle Management hosts led the Kapuso show.

According to the report published by pep.ph, GMA was expected to release a statement to confirm or deny the speculations.

It can be recalled that there were already rumors that the contract between GMA and Showtime would only last until December 2024.

If the rumors were true, it would debunk the possibility of Eat Bulaga’s return to GMA Network.

Last year, Eat Bulaga hosts decided to leave TAPE Inc. and GMA due to their differences in management.
