Former MMDA Chairman at Marikina Mayor Bayani Fernando, pumanaw matapos mahulog sa rooftop

Former Marikina Mayor Bayani Fernando passed away after he fell from the rooftop of his house on September 22, 2023.

According to the reports, Fernando was repairing the roof of his own house in Barangay IVC, Marikina when he slipped and fell.

The 77-year-old former mayor was rushed to the hospital, but it was already too late for the doctors to save him.

Fernando became a prominent figure when he led the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) from 2002-2009.

He became popular when he started to transform the National Capital Region’s traffic infrastructure into pink and also built footbridges and male urinals.

Fernando also ran in 2010 for Vice President but lost against former Makati City Mayor Jejomar Binay.

Thousands of netizens expressed their condolences to Fernando.

MMDA also dedicated a message to their former chairman.

“A mechanical engineer by profession, Chairman Fernando used scientific and practical approaches in his quest to solve the problems of Metro Manila. A man of few words, Fernando is known to be a workaholic and a disciplinarian among MMDA employees.” the agency wrote.

“Under his helm, he put the MMDA in the spotlight. He was the person behind rapid bus lanes and the ‘Metro Gwapo’ campaign transforming the region into a livable metropolis.

“Thank you very much for your contributions. Rest now, Sir, for you already got the job done,” they added.

A Transportation Security Personnel working at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) was caught swallowing $300 from a Chinese passenger.

The incident was caught on closed-circuit television (CCTV) where the female officer was seen putting the paper bill into her mouth to allegedly hide the money she grabbed from the tourist’s wallet.

The incident happened on September 8 and the victim was identified as Mr. Cai.

According to the report, Cai placed his wallet through the Advanced Imaging Technology Machine (AITM) when suddenly the officer brought the tray where the belongings of the victim were placed.

The CCTV footage then showed the officer holding something which was identified as money and putting it into her mouth.

Cai reported the incident when he noticed that something was missing in his wallet and when they reviewed the footage, they caught the actions done by the officer.

“She was seen to be having a hard time swallowing the bills despite drinking the bottled water earlier given to her,” the report said.

Officials suspected that the suspect was trying to ensure that she would never be caught by swallowing the evidence.

The tourist refused to file official charges against the officer, but the Office of the Security Personnel (OTS) already suspended her.

Content creator Jinky Anderson, popularly known as Madam Kilay couldn’t hide her disappointment from the people whom she invited to become Godparents of her child Little Lakas.

In a Facebook post, Jinky said that she was not happy that the people she invited didn’t attend the christening of her child, saying that she expected them to arrive.

According to her most of the people she invited who didn’t answer her invitation were famous personalities on social media.

“Ngayon mag message kayo sakin ng kaplastikan nyo! Yung ibang mga inimbitahan ko na maging ninang at ninong ni Little Lakas na mga kilala sa social media EKIS KAYO!” said Jinky.

“Wala namann problema kung ayaw nyo dapat dineretso nyo na ko nung una pa lang! Maiintindihan ko naman! Hindi ko naman mapplease lahat eh! Hindi yung pina asa nyo ko 1 month before sabi pa “uu naman eme eme! hindi kame mawawala.”

“Tapos the day before ng binyag nag hingi ako ng confirmation snob na ang mga botlog. Pwede naman mag message na ayaw dxaii! Palibhasa mga high profile na. Edi meow! Iilan lang talaga ang totoo sa socmed, sarap nyo i-real talk,” she stated.

As of writing, Jinky has yet to name the said personalities she was referring on her post.

Netizens couldn’t hide their disappointment after they saw the Philippine National Artist for Film Ricky Lee being distanced by a security guard from Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach.

In a video taken at the Manila International Book Fair in Pasay City on September 14, 2023, it was shown that Ricky was trying to reach the hand of Pia, but one of the security personnel of the beauty queen was seen trying to block the national artist.

In an interview with Pep.ph, Ricky spoke about the said incident, saying that the guard should become more respectful with the people who were trying to get near Pia.

“Hindi kinakailangan na senior or hindi kinakailangang National Artist. Pero kung may taong nilapitan din ni Pia, kinamayan pa ni Pia, respetuhin niya [guard] yung tao at si Pia, kasi kilala ni Pia,” said Ricky.

“Pero hindi niya kailangang hawiin kasi si Pia mismo ang lumapit at nakipag-usap. So, kawalang respeto yon hindi lang sa akin kundi kay Pia. Hindi in-acknowledge ng guard na in-acknowledge ako ni Pia,” he added.

However, Ricky said that he only realized that he was being disrespected when his friends showed him the video.

“Maging makatao sana lalo na sa isang book fair. Hindi lang siya kung saan, book fair siya,” he stated.

As of writing, the security agency handling the guard has yet to give a statement on the issue.

Super Sireyna 2013 winner Francine Garcia clarified that she had no romantic relationship with former Ilocos Sur Governor Chavit Singson’s son, Luis Christian Singson.

During a live stream to promote her product in Narvacan, Ilocos Sur, Francine said that Christian was already courting somebody else so it was impossible for them to have a relationship.

“So aamin na talaga, may girlfriend talaga ni Christian, taken na siya,” said Francine.

However, Christian clarified that she was still courting the said woman.

Liza Soberano admitted that she was currently studying Korean in preparation for her attempt to build a career in South Korea.

In an interview with Pep.ph, Liza revealed that she was already working with a Korean production company, but admitted that she was having difficulties in communicating with them.

According to her, she lost many opportunities because of not knowing Korean so she decided to study it.

“I’ve actually met with a lot of production companies, a lot of agents and managers, and [they all showed] interest. Pero, sabi nila, balikan ko sila kapag nakakasalita na ko ng Korean,” she said.

“I can speak a little now because I kept coming back too often [to Korea]. I’m doing lessons with their language. I’m really taking it seriously,” she added.

It can be recalled that Liza expressed her desire to enter Hollywood, but it seems that she already changed her mind.

Liza’s decision to leave her career in the Philippines received criticism from his fans, even from her former talent manager Ogie Diaz.

Sharon Cuneta apologized to her husband Kiko Pangilinan and to their family after the issue caused by her eldest daughter KC Concepcion.

In a press conference for the upcoming reunion concert of Sharon and her former partner Gabby Concepcion, who’s KC’s father, the megastar clarified that while she was saddened by the issue, she would not side with any of her children.

However, Sharon said that she was only more close to Frankie because they have the same attitude.

“I don’t play favorites. Some people seem to think favorite daughter ko si Frankie, hindi. I love all my children equally. It’s just that, do’n lang tayo sa totoo. Sharon also reacted to KC’s statement where the latter said that she felt alone sometimes because both of her parents were already busy with their own families.

However, Sharon said that it was KC’s choice to stay away from them.

“It was her choice. Being alone was her choice,” she said.

Motivational Speaker Rendon Labador made a response to the statements made by actor Baron Geisler about the current state of his mental health.

On his only remaining social media page, Rendon questioned why Baron was worried about his mental health.

According to Rendon, he was the one who must be concerned about the public.

“Pati si Baron nalito na, ako nga yung nag aalala sa inyong lahat,” said Rendon.

It can be recalled that Rendon insisted that his only desire was to make the Filipino netizens ‘intelligent’ that’s why he was not afraid of making controversial comments against famous personalities in the country.

Filipino-based Indian vlogger Navjot Singh, popularly known as Mr. Nobodydudy admitted that he was receiving seriously bad messages from his countrymen who were also living in the Philippines because of his vlogs.

In a video, Singh revealed that he expressed concern over his family because of the negative comments he was receiving from his countrymen.

It can be recalled that Singh’s videos while making fun of how his countrymen were preparing food went viral on social media.

Singh hinted that he might take a break from making videos about his country.

“My family is like very careful lately, I just want to let you know, my supporters know na I think our time is near,” he said. “Hindi nila maintindihan ‘yung content, they’re just taking it personally na ‘bakit yan ang sinasabi niya’ hindi nila ma-gets ‘yung we are just reacting on the Indian videos na talagang mandidiri ka sa street foods ng India,”

According to him, several Indian restaurant owners in the Philippines called his relatives and told them to be ‘careful’.

“Hindi niyo lang matanggap na ‘yung kalahi niyo ay umaangat at gusto niyong hilahin pababa. Gusto niyo kayo lang ang bida-bida,” he said.

He then clarified that he would keep posting content on social media.
