Davao City Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte urged the public to choose a future leader for the country who has traits similar to those of former President Rodrigo Duterte.
In an interview, Duterte said that the public should observe whether the leaders running in 2028 possess characteristics similar to those of the former president.
“If you choose another leader for the Philippines, then choose the person in whom you see what you saw in my father,” Duterte said in Filipino.
The former president was currently in The Hague, Netherlands, as he was facing crimes against humanity charges for leading the war on drugs during his mayoral and presidential terms.
It can be recalled that Vice President Sara Duterte is among those being eyed to run for the presidency in 2028 despite facing an impeachment trial.
However, critics believed that the vice president cannot be compared to the former president, especially when it comes to speaking in public, as the younger Duterte was not really into interviews unlike her father.
