During the incident, the guard was seen forcefully driving out the student and grabbing the flowers she was selling, which were destroyed in the process.

The guard then kicked her when she tried to defend herself.

As a response, SM Megamall management apologized for the behavior shown by their security personnel and informed their customers that they already dismissed him.

“We regret and sympathize with the young girl who experienced an unfortunate incident outside our mall,” the statement read. “We have called the attention of the security agency to conduct an immediate and thorough investigation,”

“The security guard has been dismissed and will no longer be allowed to service any of our malls,” they added.

The incident sparked discussion on whether the security guard was only following orders from the mall.

“You say that, but usually the guards are just following the orders of the higher ups to remove them from the premises because they’ll ruin the image of your ” Supermalls ” . You’re just using the Guard as a scapegoat,” netizen Ralph said.

“Sana macompensate both ang Guard at yung girl. They don’t deserve the media exposure, as well as the lack of due process for the guard’s dismissal. You don’t need to appease the masses with your statement,” netizen Jan remarked.
