According to the reports, Mayor Junard “Ahong” Chan encouraged old people to undergo circumcision in exchange for financial assistance from him.

The old man who only identified as ‘Lolo Mado’ was one of the people of Lapu-Lapu who accepted the challenge.

His operation was considered successful, and now recovering in his house.

“Ke tanda ko na nga naman eh magba-viral pa sa ganito,” the old man said in Cebuano.

Chan refused to give any more information about the old man, but according to some reports, he has seven children and 62 grandchildren.

The Mayor said that Lolo Mado inspired many men to be circumcised despite their age.

In another interview, the old man narrated why he was not circumcised during his youth.

“Bata pa kami magpapatuli na sana kami, apat kami magpapatuli. Una pa lang parang rason kami ang nasa huli, hindi nalang namin pinagpatuloy, umuwi na lang kami, dahil sa takot,” Lolo Mado said.

“Dahil ang tuli dati sa panahon namin, maliit na itak lang ang gamit,” he added.

Lapu Lapu City Cebu Health office encouraged their old residents to avail their free circumcision.

“Health-wise mas mabuti talaga kung ma-circumcise, so Mayor is giving the incentive to those male individuals above 20 who are not circumcized to come out that’s why Mayor is giving an incentive of 10,000 para they have the guys to come out,” Dr. Agnes Cecile Balbuena-Realiza, City Health officer of Lapu Lapu City said.
