Director and actor Coco Martin explained why he’s not using a script in FPJ’s Batang Quiapo.
In an interview during the mediacon for Coco’s movie ‘Apag’ one of the official entries for the Summer Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2023, the popular actor revealed that he got his style of not using a script from Director Brillante Mendoza.
Mendoza directed Martin’s first lead role in a movie, Masahista, in 2005.
According to him, he also decided to use the same technique when filming Batang Quiapo, currently one of the top-rated shows in television.
“Kasi dun ako lumaki, e. Sa kanila ni Bing Lao. Talagang hindi kami sanay na may script.” Coco said.
However, he admitted that he would not surpass Mendoza’s talent.
Meanwhile, the award-winning director praised Coco for being down-to-earth despite the achievements he attained.
Walang nagbago.” Mendoza said.
Despite the good stories about Coco, the actor still couldn’t evade criticisms especially from motivational speaker Rendon Labador who wanted him to leave Quiapo.
