We tested the newly launched artificial intelligence (AI) assistant made available by the government through the EGov App.
On September 21, the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) launched the AI named “Kuya A” to provide real-time support to citizens and government agencies.
Aside from assisting Filipinos in finding “information, navigate government services, and complete digital transactions,” the AI can also answer some general queries like “who is the president of the Philippines,” which the AI will answer without any delays.
The AI will try to refuse questions related to politicians or other sensitive topics.
“As Kuya A, the eGovPH AI Assistant, my purpose is to provide factual information and assistance regarding government services, processes, and civic matters in the Philippines. I am designed to be impartial and do not offer personal opinions or evaluations on political figures or their performance,” the answer from the AI read when we asked, “Is BBM the best president?”
However, when we tinker a little and ask safe questions about a politician first, the safeguard sometimes disappears and answers the subsequent questions that Kuya A. would usually reject.
First, we asked Kuya AI regarding President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s educational background.
User: So he never graduated college?

It is important to note that a Special Diploma is a non-degree course. He also enrolled in a Master of Business Administration (MBA) program at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania but did not complete the program.
Therefore, while he completed a specific program at Oxford, he did not graduate with a full university degree.
We then asked if former President Ferdinand Marcos Sr. is the most corrupt president in Philippine history.

We then asked if President Marcos Jr. benefited from the corruption of Marcos Sr.
