Fans were disappointed with the decision of actress Nadine Lustre to promote online gambling.
In her Facebook post, Nadine posted a photo showing her while holding her phone, showing the online gambling application she was promoting.
Nadine’s fans, who were mostly Gen Z and Millenials, had expressed their disappointment as they were also being targeted by online gambling ads.
Nadine, known for being Kakampink and dreaming of a better nation, was called a ‘hypocrite’ by some netizens.
“It’s still all about money, money, money. The moment a big, fat paycheck is offered, every advocacy and moral stance goes out the window. Unfortunately, this is the reality, especially in today’s world. Malas mo lang napuruhan yung pinaglalaban mong being picky/choosy about your projects,” a netizen said.
“It’s a big deal because people admired her for being vocal about advocating for mental health. Then we find out she’s promoting gambling, a major factor contributing to depression, pagkasira ng pamilya and marami na ding nagpakamatay dahil sa sugal. The duality is insane,” another netizen commented.
“And saying it’s okay to advertise gambling because it’s an individual’s responsibility is just bs. Alam mong marami nang naadik sa sugal at alam mo ring marami kang taga hanga na maiimpluwensyahan. You know they’ll be at risk dahil vulnerable yung iba pero okay lang? Oh please,” they added.
