OPM band Side A ended their silence after reports about their former frontman, Joey Gerenoso, refusing to sing their most famous song, ‘Forevermore,’ was published on social media.
It can be recalled that Joey G refused to sing Forevermore during a tour abroad despite the request from the audience.
During a press conference for their upcoming concert on November 30, members of Side A said that Joey’s performing the same set as his former band caused confusion among their fans.
At first, they just ignored Joey G’s acts, but when it reached the songwriter of Forevermore, Joey Benin, they decided to take action.
“’Yung playlist namin nagkakapareho, e. So, parang iniisip ko, e, ‘Nag-solo ka na, e.” said Ernie Severino, the band’s drummer. “So nagiging confusing, parang nagiging dalawa yung Side A. ‘Tapos every time na lalabas siya, laging meron caption na, ‘formerly of Side A’ and it keeps happening many, many times,
“Parang hindi tama. Nagsolo siya ‘tapos he’s still singing the same Side A playlist, hindi lang ‘Forevermore,’ even the other songs which was arranged and pinaghirapan din ng other members ng Side A,” he added.
Meanwhile, Joey said that he would only allow their former frontman to sing Forevermore if he would perform it with Side A.
“All of the members of Side A will be on one stage someday performing and creating that wonderful music that God has gifted all of us,” the songwriter said.
