Former Ilocos Sur Governor Chavit Singson fulfilled his promise to the Yulo family for the upcoming Christmas.
On November 3, 2024, Singson personally visited the Yulo family to award them with P1-M.
Mark Andrew, Angelica, Joriel, Eldrew, and Eliza Yulo were present during the private meeting.
According to Singson, he wanted to help the Yulo family because he respected them for giving honor to the country by representing them in gymnastics.
Meanwhile, Singson said that his P5-M offer to two-time Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo was still open.
It can be recalled that Singson asked Carlos to talk to his family, and as a reward, he gave the athlete P5-M.
“Para lang magsama-sama silang mag-pamilya, magbibigay ako ng P5 milyon. Hindi [dahil] sa panalo niyang gold sa [Olympics], more on sa pamilya,” Singson said.
“Kasi nararamdaman ko ‘yung… Masakit sa ama na aawayin ka ng anak mo at ‘di man lang sila inimbita,” he added.
Unfortunately, Carlos refused to respond to Singson’s offer.
Some netizens believed that Carlos didn’t mind losing the P5-M offer as it was only small compared to the P100-M he accumulated from receiving rewards from individuals and companies.
However, Singson still hoped that Carlos would talk to his parents someday.
