Former President Rodrigo Duterte was planning to file charges against Santa Rosa City Rep. Dan Fernandez and Manila 6th District Rep. Benny Abante.
During the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee investigation on the alleged EJKs during the previous administration, Police Col. Hector Grijaldo revealed that Fernandez and Abante urged him to create an affidavit to support the alleged ‘reward system’ implemented under Duterte’s presidency.
“After a while, Cong. Dan Fernandez entered the room and he asked me to sit beside him on his right side and Cong. Abante entered the room, sat far…Cong. Dan Fernandez put the paper he was holding on the table and told me, ‘Ito ang sasabihin mong statement na ito”, while pointing on the paragraph on the paper, ‘Ito ang supplemental affidavit ni Colonel Garma, sabihin mong alam mo ang reward system. I-confirm mo lang,’” said Grijaldo.
According to Grijaldo, the two lawmakers even hinted that he may still become a general if he followed their instructions.
However, the cop refused Fernandez and Abante’s request, saying that it would put him in jeopardy if he lied under oath.
Meanwhile, Duterte said that Fernandez and Abante committed the Subornation of Perjury by forcing an individual to lie.
The former President also mulled charges against the two lawmakers who were part of QuadComm.
