The Nuestra Senora del Pilar Shrine and Parish released a statement on October 11, 2024, after they faced criticism following the mini-concert they held inside their Church last October 6.

In a statement, the parish priest, Fr. Carlito Meim Dimaano, apologized for the mistake they made after they allowed the performance inside the Church.

“Buong kababaang-loob po akong humihingi ng kapatawaran sa lahat ng nasaktan mula sa mga pagkakamaling nasaksihan sa Heavenly Harmony Concert na ginanap sa Nuestra Senora del Pilar Shrine and Parish noong ika6 ng Oktubre 2024,” he said.

“Inaamin ko pong may mga mali kaming desisyon ukol dito. Inaamin ko po ang lahat ng mga pagkakamaling ito,” he added.

He also apologized to Julie Anne and other Sparkle Artists who performed during the event, as well as to his superior, Bishop Pablito Martinez Tagura.

Fr. Dimaano vowed that heChurch not allow the incident to happen again.

It can be recalled that the Church went viral on social media after videos of Sparkle artist Julie Anne San Jose in front of the altar were uploaded on the internet.

The artist sang “Dancing Queen” by Abba, “The Climb” by Miley Cyrus, and “Edge of Glory” by Lady Gaga.

Netizens quickly criticized Julie Anne for her choice of songs and outfits during the performance.

According to the Church, the proceedings of the event would be spent for the improvement of the Parish.
