The richest woman in the Philippines, Tessy Sy-Coson, received praise from the netizens after she showed her humility during one of her travels.
In his Facebook post, Jose Dalisay showed a photo of Sy-Coson waiting for her luggage at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 2 like other normal passengers.
“It tells you something when one of Asia’s richest women waits patiently for her luggage to come off the carousel,” Dalisay wrote.
“The board of one of her companies had a meeting in Iloilo over the weekend, and we met some of them taking a tour of the city, and we met them again at the Iloilo airport, but I saw none of the others at the carousel, with assistants presumably delivering their baggage to their cars,” he added.
Sy-Coson is the daughter of SM Prime Holdings founder Henry Sy, Sr., and the current vice chairwoman of SM Investments Corporation.
She was also one of the advisers to the Board of SM Prime Holdings and Chairwoman of BDO Unibank.
Netizens praised the businesswoman for staying humble despite her wealth and influence.
“The real rich has proper manners; the rest are just social climbers. This is based on my experience studying in some universities in Manila,” netizen Pepe said.
“Unlike majority of our politicians who are accompanied by bodyguards and have assistants who manage their luggage,” netizen Agnaro remarked.
“The Sy siblings are known to be very down to earth. I used to work for SMIC. HSJr. would even ride in a crowded elevator with the employees,” netizen Agnes commented.
