Vice President Sara Duterte apologized to the members of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) during the group’s anniversary on September 2, 2024.

During her speech, Duterte thanked the members of KOJC for supporting her, but she also expressed her regret for recommending Marcos to the religious group.

“Nagkamali ako. Nagkamali ako sa paghingi ng tulong at suporta niyo para kay Pangulong Bongbong Marcos. I was on the mistaken belief that we were together on the platform of unity and continuity. Nagkamali ako, kaya hinihingi ko ang patawad ninyo,” said Duterte.

“Always remember na wala man ako lagi sa mga masasayang araw ninyo pero nandito ako lagi sa inyong kalungkutan. I will always be with you in your darkness,” she added.

Marcos and Duterte formed a super-tandem in the last elections, and both won.

However, their ‘unity’ was challenged by their differences regarding some policies, including the government’s decision to pursue KOJC’s founder, Apollo Quiboloy, who was still hiding from the authorities.

Duterte was rumored to form her senate slate in 2025 to challenge the current administration.
