Gymnastics Association of the Philippines (GAP) President Cynthia Carrion defended Chloe San Jose from the criticism she received from the netizens.
Chloe, the girlfriend of two-time Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo, was criticized by the Yulo family’s supporters. She was blamed for the clash between the Filipino athlete and his family.
However, Cynthia believed that Chloe’s arrival didn’t have any bad effects on Carlos’ Olympic journey.
She even praised Chloe for her contribution to Carlos’ well-being.
“She’s very nice. I like her, you know… she has helped Carlos. Carlos will not be with her, if he has not felt her help. I will be the first one to be against her if she was not a help.” she said.
“She helped him be open to people, She helped him to be strong in the mind, you know be stronger mentally. She helped him a lot.” she added.
It can be recalled that Chloe and Cynthia accompanied Carlos since the day the gymnast refused to see his family.
Carlos also considered Cynthia as his second mother, who always defended him from his critics without any second thoughts.
However, some netizens questioned Cynthia’s statement and even built a theory that the official was not encouraging Carlos to fix his family issues.
