Two-time Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo strongly believed that his girlfriend, Chloe San Jose, was one of the reasons why he became so successful during his 2024 Paris Olympic run.
In an interview with Cheryl Cosim, Carlos called Chloe as his ‘secret weapon’ who made him surpass all his other competitors during the Olympics.
According to him, Chloe contributed a lot not only in improving his gymnastics skills, but also to his well-being and personality.
“Mas naalagaan po ‘yung well-being ko po talaga…. and sobrang natulungan po ako talaga na mas maging open hindi lang sa buhay ko kundi sa gymnastics po talaga. Super connected po talaga niya, dami ko natutunan,” said Carlos.
He said that because of Chloe, he experienced some kind of enlightenment and was introduced to different new things that he didn’t knew that he would like.
Carlos, who’s known for being shy also shared that he learned how to express his true feelings because of Chloe.
“Nadedetermine ko na kung ano ‘yung nararamdaman ko at nasasabi ko vocally and hindi ako nahihiya na i-express ‘yung tunay kong nararamdaman. Mas nai-enjoy ko po ‘yung buhay ko kahit nahihirapan po ako,” he said.
While Carlos was always praising his girlfriend, his relatives and other people believed that Chloe was not a good influence to the gymnast.
It can be recalled that several reports pinpointed Chloe as the reason of the disagreement between Carlos and his former Japanese coach, Munehiro Kugimiya, which ended badly.
