Former Ilocos Sur Governor Chavit Singson said that he would give P5,000,000 to two-time Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo if he agreed to accept the money together with his family.
In a statement, Singson said he offered the deal to help Carlos reunite with his family and discuss their differences.
Singson also clarified that he was not giving P5-M to Carlos because of his gold medal but to become a bridge to fix the athlete’s family.
Hindi [dahil] sa panalo niyang gold sa [Olympics], more on sa pamilya,” he said.
“Kasi nararamdaman ko ‘yung… Masakit sa ama na aawayin ka ng anak mo at ‘di man lang sila inimbita,” he added.
The businessman also felt it would be difficult for Yulo to face his mother due to their issues.
However, Singson said that he still would be satisfied even if Carlos’ father were the only one to appear during the presentation of P5-M.
Honor thy father and mother, ‘di ba?” he added.
He also urged Carlos to forgive his mother.
It can be recalled that Carlos’ family feud with his family became publicized after Mrs. Yulo allegedly refused to support her son based on her Facebook posts.
The issue escalated after Carlos claimed that his parents ‘zeroed’ his bank accounts.
However, Carlos’ parents were pointing their fingers at the gymnast’s girlfriend, Chloe San Jose, who allegedly caused all the problems in their family.
