The netizens were saddened by the untimely passing of one of the modern-day pillars of Sports Journalism, Chino Trinidad, at the age of 56 years.
On July 13, 2024, Trinidad, who became known as a sports journalist for GMA News, passed away, sparking speculations about his cause of demise.
On July 14, Arnold Clavio, one of the long-time colleagues of Trinidad, gave a detailed narration of the latter’s last day.
According to Clavio, Trinidad passed away due to a condition related to his heart problems.
“Ayon sa ilang kaibigan, mga alas-11 kagabi sa Newport Resorts World, nag collapse si Chino. Dinala siya sa San Juan De Dios, massive heart attack na. May scheduled check-up siya kay Dr. Tony Leachon this July 17. Hindi na umabot. He was supposed to turn 57 this month,” Clavio said.

Trinidad was known as a passionate commentator, and despite leaving GMA Network several years ago, he continued his job until the end of his life.
One of his last article was about the alleged corruption happened during the selection of players for U-17 Boys Basketball Team of Gilas Pilipinas.
“I have it from a solid source that a spot on the U17 Philippine Team was āsoldā in exchange for an all expenses paid tour of Turkey,” Trinidad wrote.
