Comedian Melai Cantiveros was asked by the press if she was willing to replace Ai-Ai delas Alas as the leading star of the next Tanging Ina movie.
In an interview, a reporter asked Melai about her thoughts on the clamor of the netizens to replace Ai-Ai as the leading actress in the Tanging Ina franchise.
“Ang daming nagpu-push na ikaw daw ang mag remake ng Tanging Ina, anong masasabi mo doon?” the reporter asked.
“Syempre Tanging ina niyo rin,” Melai said in jest.
Afterward, Melai gave an honest answer to the question, saying that she would welcome the offer.
“Kung i-offer sa’kin why not? Sobrang happy pero hindi natin i-bypass si Ms. AiAi delas Alas kasi siya talaga ang ating Queen of Comedy… Dami niya nang napatunayan,” Melai said.
“Nandiyan ap sina Ate Pokwang, sina Eugene Domingo… Kaya kung ikuwan, why not pero wala tayong ma-hurt na mga tao,” she added.

It can be recalled that Ai-Ai expressed her disappointment towards ABS-CBN after the network deleted the news about the possible remake of the series.
