Maine Mendoza addressed the claims made by the remaining fans of her former partnership with Alden Richards, AlDuB.
In an interview, Maine was asked about her reaction to the rumors that she was already married to Alden and had kids with the Kapuso actor.
According to her, she didn’t fail to remind their fans that her love team with Alden was only for entertainment purposes.
However, Maine expressed frustration as the fans didn’t believe what she said.
“Kami naman ni Alden, hindi naman kami nagkulang at minsan ni-re-remind namin sila at pag may chance kinakausap din namin pero hindi talaga sila naniniwala,” said Maine. “Siguro kung happy sila doon, hayaan nalang,”
AlDub was once the biggest love team in the country during its peak, and many thought that Alden and Maine would become lovers in real life.
However, many netizens believed that the pressure received by Maine from AlDub fans prompted her to end the partnership between her and Alden.
“I do hope I have also given you enough joy for you to give me the freedom I believe I deserve. Freedom to feel what I want to feel, be what I want to be, and do what I want to do. Alden deserves the same, too,” she wrote.
In 2023, Maine married her partner, Arjo Atayde, followed by hundreds of tweets from the remaining AlDub fans who claimed the wedding was fake.
They also kept posting their ‘evidence’ to prove that Alden and Maine were married and had family already.
