After several attempts to return to television, Willie Revillame took a shift in his plans and decided to become a public servant.
During a rally organized by former President Rodrigo Duterte in Davao City on February 27, Willie used his charm to entertain the attendees like he usually does on his shows.
He also gave a jacket to Duterte, saying that the latter was the only one who could unite the country again.
However, many were surprised when he suddenly climbed up to the stage and narrated how Duterte tried to convince him several times to run for the Senate.
With his signature sad background music, Revillame delivered his speech about the attempts made by the former President to encourage him to become a lawmaker.
“Isang malaking karangalan na ang isang tv host ay alukin ng isang presidente ng Pilipinas na magsilbi sa bayan,” he said.
“Noong sinabi niyo po sa akin ‘yan, [ang sabi ko] kailangan handa ako, kailangan hindi kayo mapahiya, kaya po ako ay tumanggi sa inyo,” he added.
This time, Revillame expressed with his all confidence that he was ready to become a senator.
“Palagay ko handa na ako,” said Willie. “Handa akong gumawa ng kabutihan, handa akong magsilbi, hindi lang sa bayan, handa akong magsilbi sa ating mga kababayan na nangangailangan ng tulong,”
