IBC13 President and CEO Jose C. Policarpio Jr. believed that Willie Revillame’s arrival at government-owned stations would be a big contribution to their mission the reach the people.
During a senate hearing, Policarpio confirmed that they were talking with Revillame about a possible gameshow that may become similar to the previous programs made by the television host.
According to Policarpio, they wanted to remove the identity of PTV4 and IBC13 as government-owned stations.
He said that they also wanted to bring entertainment to the people.
“So we bring in Willie Revillame – it will be more of a program that will cater to entertainment to the lowest of the lowest among the people,” said Policarpio.
It can be recalled that several critics questioned if the government would pay Willie for his talent as part of PTV4 and IBC13.
Some critics believed that entertaining the people should become less priority of the government as many stations were already providing leisure to the public.
Entertainment writers also called the decision of Willie to return as ‘forced’ saying that the competition was tough already and it was possible that the television host would fail again like what happened to his AllTV stint.
However, supporters of Willie believed that PTV would make it easier for Willie to reach his fans again.
