The Movie and Television Review and Classification (MTRCB) clarified that the 12-day airing suspension against It’s Showtime was not yet finalized and the program was still allowed to air.
In an interview, Sotto said that they could suspend It’s Showtime on September 5 after they released the decision, however, they wanted to give the Kapamilya show a chance to appeal.
“With others, puwede naman talagang ma-suspend na kanina pa lang. But no, again, in the spirit of fairness, we’re giving them the chance kaya hindi sila suspended today. We will wait for its finality,” said Sotto.
Sotto also denied that she was favoring the noontime show of her father Tito Sotto who produced E.A.T, one of the competitors of It’s Showtime on noontime slot.
However, she understood that some fans would really criticize her.
“No, that is not true. Siguro natural lang naman sa mga supporters ang maging ganoon ang pakiramdam kasi siguro naririnig nila na parating na-re-report. But hindi po kasalanan ng MTRCB ang violations na ginagawa nila,” said Sotto.
She also made it clear that she inhibited herself from voting on the decision related to the fate of the Kapamilya program.
It can be recalled that several fans blamed Sotto and some accused the chair of trying to boost the ratings of E.A.T by lessening the competition.
