The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) suspended the ‘It’s Showtime’ after they were found committing ‘indecent’ actions during one of their segments on July 25.
According to the statement released by MTRCB headed by Lala Sotto, they would not allow the Kapamilya show to air for 12 airing days.
They also claimed that several viewers filed a complaint against It’s Showtime during the said segment where Vice Ganda and Ion Perez could be seen eating a cake in a seductive manner in front of several children.
“Viewers have lodged multiple complaints before the MTRCB concerning the show’s 25 July 2023 episode wherein the program’s hosts allegedly acted in an indecent manner during one of its Segments, “Isip Bata”. The said case was referred to the MTRCB’s Hearing and Adjudication Committee which heard the case and required the respondents to submit their position papers, following the procedural process,” the MTRCB statement reads.
It’s Showtime may file a motion for reconsideration to appeal the decision made by MTRCB within 15 days.
They also listed several complaints received by It’s Showtime in 2023 where they only sent a warning to its producers.
As of writing, ABS-CBN has yet to give a response to MTRCB’s decision.
It can be recalled that Sotto received criticism from It’s Showtime fans who accused her of being biased because she was the daughter of Tito Sotto, one of the hosts of the Kapamilya show’s competitors, E.A.T.
However, a lawyer warned the fans of It’s Showtime that criticizing MTRCB would never benefit the program.
