There’s no impossible when it comes to Philippine politics and this saying might be proven again if Makati City Mayor Abby Binay decides to run in the mayoral election of Taguig City in 2025.
In an interview, Binay said that she’s considering running as mayor of their neighboring city amid the territorial dispute between Makati and Taguig.
However, she was seriously thinking of her possible decisions and admitted that she was not really familiar with every place in Taguig City.
“Pero hindi pa po ako nakakapagdesisyon dahil magiging mabigat at mahirap na task ang tumakbo sa Taguig sapagkat una, hindi po ako pamilyar sa lugar , although meron po tayong magandang maibibigay at magagawa para sa lungsod na ‘yun,” said Abby.
“Pero kailangan po magmuni-muni nang mabuti, kailangan kausapin ko ho yung asawa’t anak ko because it will be a difficult decision to make, running for Taguig,” she added.
There was a possibility that Binay would face the Cayetanos who had been handling the city for many decades.
It can be recalled that the Supreme Court favored Taguig in their territorial dispute against Makati, granting them the 10 barangays previously owned by the city being led by the Binays.
Binay said that because of the decision of the Supreme Court, 300,000 residents of Makati would lose their benefits because they’re now considered as citizens of Taguig City.
As of writing Cayetano has yet to give any response to the plan of Binay.
