It’s Showtime fans couldn’t hide their concern about the possible suspension of the Kapamilya noontime show after the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) summoned the producers of the program.
It can be recalled that MTRCB wanted to summon the hosts of It’s Showtime after its hosts, Vice Ganda, and Ion Perez, had allegedly performed ‘indecent’ acts in front of several children during the ‘Isip Bata’ segment of the show.
MTRCB had the power ‘to approve or disapprove, delete objectionable portions from and/or prohibit the importation, exportation, production, copying, distribution, sale, lease, exhibition and/or television broadcast’ of movies and television programs, which includes It’s Showtime.
Several ABS-CBN fan pages expressed their opposition to the decision of MTRCB and even mentioned the connection of the agency’s chairperson, Lala Sotto to one of the hosts of It’s Showtime’s competitor, E.A.T.
Some observers believed that the worst-case scenario that It’s Showtime may face was suspension like what MTRCB commonly did to other shows.
As of writing, Vice and Ion have yet to release their statement on the move made by MTRCB against them.
