P3PWD Party-List Representative Atty. Rowena Guanzon questioned the purpose and validity of Claudine Barretto’s possible legal complaint against Sabrina M.
It can be remembered that Sabrina claimed that she had a ‘secret relationship’ with Claudine’s ex-boyfriend Rico Yan who passed away in 2002.
The claims made by Sabrina prompted Claudine’s lawyer, Atty Ferdinand Topacio, to warn the former about the possible charges she may face if she refuse to recant her story about Rico.
Still, Sabrina refused to apologize and even said that she was ready to face the charges that Claudine would file against her.
In a video, Guanzon said that Claudine has no right to file charges on behalf of Rico because she’s not even married to the late actor.
She also explained that the only people who have the right to file charges against Sabrina are relatives of Rico.
“Ang tanong, sino ang may karapatan na magsampa ng libel?” said Guanzon. “Asawa ba siya? Anak ba siya? Ina ba siya [ni Rico Yan?]”
“Kung hindi, hindi pwedeng siya ang magsampa ng kaso [dahil] ang tawag doon ay wala siyang standing, wala kang karapatan,” she added.

As of writing, Topacio has yet to give a response to Guanzon’s video.
